arthur could be nice when he wanted to. hell, he could even be kind. the problem was, he more often than not simply didn’t want to be either of those things. the thing about power and money was that the more one accrues the two, the more they become comfortable with the sort of person they were. it was why so many billionaires were predators, why so many ceos held psychopathic tendencies. arthur was neither of the above, but he gladly sat with his dark triad trait; SOCIOPATHY. the more successful he’d become, the less he’d care about the impression he made, the way people received him, because it mattered less. HIS MONEY SPOKE and that was what mattered.
but once in a blue moon, he could fake it. soften emerald eyes and turn his perpetual scowl into something more of a smile. or at least a definite hint of one. and for her, he’d do that. at least, if it got him what he wanted. “ hi, ” he murmured. it was a chilly new york evening, christmas hinting in the air. close but not too far, his nose had been pink when he’d entered the foyer of the upscale bar but had subsided in the elevator ride upwards. he’d known she’d be here, counted on it. he waved the bartender over. “ it’s a pity to see a beautiful woman drinking alone on a night like this. ”
open to FEMALES :: you’re the wife of a guy at work that’s vying for the same promotion as arthur. office politics have begun to get dirty between the two, but arthur’s not going to fold. instead, he’s going for the piece de resistance of his co-worker’s wife; his trophy wife ( or girlfriend ).
luna’s manicured nails clicked against the bar’s countertop in restless anticipation, attempting to keep from checking the time once again as she sipped on her drink carefully. it wasn’t something out of the ordinary but the sting of disappointment was all the same. each time she sat in front of the mirror getting impeccably dressed in all of his favorites always garnered a new sense of hope in luna. that this time would somehow be different from the last. that this time her husband, would even for a second, consider putting her before his job. even if it was just to come get drinks with her like he has promised.
and yet, here she was, the bartender giving her the same sad smile everytime she scanned the room at the appearance of someone new in the bar. taking a moment to look down at the screen of her phone again in the hopes of finding a message from him, only the picture of her and her husband stared back at her nearly mockingly. however, when she looked back up this time she wasn’t only met by the kind eyes of the bartender. at first, luna was a bit startled by the man now taking the seat hat should have been her husband’s but his voice soothed her quickly. she let out a soft smile and bit her lip back gently. “while i appreciate the sentiment, i’m not here alone. my husband should be here any moment now...” luna assured with as she looked the stranger over.
