Ralph Bakshi just posted this on his facebook, an auction for a cel of Rozzie from Hey Good Lookin’, but the real highlight is the background, which is from the original Live Action/Animation hybrid version of Hey Good Lookin’ that Warners threatned to sue Bakshi if he didn’t re-do it all in animation, which is what he did, below is the background from the same scene in the ‘’final’’ version of the movie, you can see what was lost in translation (warm classic 50′s asthetic to dingy damp 50′s brooklyn asthetic in the animated version)
Hey Good Lookin’ was finished around 1974 and was intended for a 1975 release, but because of the Coonskin controversy it was delayed, re-worked and finished in 1980 but only released in 1982, with a re-worked art-style by artist Louise Zingarelli which worked previously with Bakshi in Lord of the Rings and American Pop.
