“In Love with the World”, Art Installation at Tate Modern, London 2021 from Airstage.biz - we make it fly on Vimeo.
Two years in the making, the Anika Yi installation has 18 radio controlled “aerobes” that fly freely in the enormous turbine hall situated on the bank of the Thames. We developed the aerobes to reflect the artists’ vision of a new ecosystem.
These aerobes are controlled by an artificial life simulation system that provides them with context about their environment, their inner motivations, and their individual traits. Together these factors give rise to self-directed choices that the aerobes make within an ever-changing ecosystem. The aerobes possess a unique set of senses; they use high-frequency radio waves to communicate with each other and to map out the space, and use thermal imaging to sense visitors.
