        Hopeless optimism. Ventus knew when it was hopeless like when those little white lies didn’t sit quite right on his tongue or sunk heavy like a stone in his gut. ‘ Terra wouldn’t do that ‘ those little hopes and moments of pure blind faith were all well and good when Terra was still galavanting around other worlds while Ventus looked for him, but those thoughts like that had no place here now not for him. It's not that Ventus didn’t know who Saix was, he had shared a lot with Sora during the long years of sharing his heart so he knew who he was. What he’d done to them, how far he’d gone for the Organization's plans, he knew everything. Still staring down the nobody so suddenly drug up the memories of Radiant Garden that he’d rather brush aside if this started to go south quick. He was not Isa, Isa was not Saix but that didn’t stop Ventus from hoping. He’d seen Lea, TALKED to Lea maybe there a chance Isa could too . . . ?

        It hurts a lot, blood is slowly collecting in the wound and starting to run down his arm. He doesn’t know what to say back about it as his other hand curls instinctively around his injured shoulder. There’s no soothing feeling or glow that knits the skin back together like it never happened. Ventus is a little flustered as he pulls his hand away slick with blood. He finally turns his attention back to the other man and nods his head in response.

        “ Yeah, but I’m fine, ” he wipes his hand against his pants leg, “ I just need to rest a little, maybe. “ Give him a minute let him catch his breath and he’ll just heal up, it’ll be fine.

        “ That’s, not really easy to answer “ Ventus pauses for a moment, “ where I’m from a special few of us are trained to fight this growing darkness. Each Master that takes us on trains us to eventually become Keyblade Masters, so fighting is something we can’t avoid. Training with Aqua and Terra as all fine an good because it was fun, but . . . “ 

        Vanitas, Terra, Aqua, Xehanort, and even Master Eraqus every instance races to the forefront of his mind before they’re drowned by experiences that aren’t his own. Experiencing pain and strength in the face of all sorts of trials and battles laid out before a younger boy. The memories, the battles, are fuzzy but the way he felt was still clear as day all the hurt and anger.

      He watches patiently, one, two, three flicks and he can’t stop staring at the ears atop the other boy’s head with the chance they might move again and he’ll miss it. At first, Ventus had thought they weren’t real since he’d never seen a person with ears like cat or dog before, but then they moved and if that wasn’t the most convincing piece of evidence that they were real then he didn’t know what was. He was fascinated by them even though they were just ears since nowhere in his traveling to other worlds had he seen something like them before. 

“ Are these actually real? “  Ventus really wants to see for himself though so he reaches for the boy’s ears anyway without waiting for his answer.
