i really think her point was that you can have an expectation for something and when you get there it ends up being in a completely different world, and maybe where you end up is even better. considering this is the first pandemic a lot of us have been around for i think we’re still all learning the right things to say. she isn’t saying “yes when i was your age i too missed out on my graduation for very similar reasons…” she is saying things might not be what you think, but you can still find beauty in them and still celebrate a big achievement. but ok
