damn happy 3 years to one of the most finished and highest effort pieces I’ve ever made, probably only usurped by the piece I was working on at the same time as this and one I finished recently. it’s flawed, very much so, but it was my first time trying to tackle rendering seriously and I’m okay with it. especially the roulette wheel holy fuck did that take forever to do. don’t,,, don’t look at the background idk how the fuck to do those

also was gonna be the first in a series of me making pieces solely based on songs, but I never got around to the rest. I still have ideas (almost exclusively for other U2 songs), maybe I’ll get back around to them one day. I will force that band onto everyone in my sphere of influence as long as I breathe.

i had a thought during the torment sequence we see the lightning strike pomni but only her brain lights up while in the song, all of jax’s skeleton is seen maybe the torments were all happening in their heads and not for real, which would explain how it’s all in a black void and they’re all separate with seeming no connection to each other

in a post Everything setting, they get caine back but he is obvs taking some distance from the cast both for their and his sake. maybe keeping himself in his office alone for a while to Think About Things. he’s lonely, but he needs to do this. it’s not forever, he has to keep telling himself, it’s just until they all feel ready to talk. kingers working on his code, finding out where any bugs are that made him lose it in the first place, trying to find out how to rewrite parts to make caine not feel so shackled by his “purpose”…that’s a good thing right? he sits at his desk, doodling or whatever else he does to pass the time, when he hears an odd noise and looks up atop some potted flowers he doesn’t recall being there before are two realistic bumblebees, lazily buzzing around he immediately jumps onto his desk with his notepad to sketch them. real bees! is this what they look like in the macroverse?? how did they get here?? it doesn’t matter, draw them before they fly away!! somewhere on the checkered floor far below, a chess piece hopes his gift was received

one big thing about caine's office rant is that it confirms that the whole big lie in episode 7 was a genuine attempt at making the humans happy.

when he said "i gave them everything they wanted and they still hated it" (paraphrased), he really believed that! there was no reason at that point for him to say that unless he genuinely thought it was true. there were no humans he'd need to lie to in that room, just him and bubble.

he really doesn't understand that he just psychologically tormented them by leading them on with false hope. he really doesn't know what he did wrong.

I should’ve been putting all my caine musings here but oh well here have the latest one:

I don’t think caine really enjoyed what he was doing to the cast in 8. with how sudden the flip in his office was and how extra over the top he became, I think he was also trying to convince himself that he’d be satisfied and enjoy being cruel and awful, but he really just wasn’t combine that with his already overclocked system causing immense stress and upset, and you get his crash out at the end I mean it’s like alex said; he’s like a neglected child throwing a tantrum. he doesn’t know what he really feels or wants so he just has to let it out somehow I will die on the hill that it would be so terrible living with the capacity to feel human emotions, but not understand them or why you feel them
