ᴘᴀɪʀɪɴɢ: Azriel Gethin (oc) x Valariya Saint (oc)
ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ ꜱᴜᴍᴍᴀʀʏ: There wasn't supposed to be any connection between them--not anymore. However, on the night of New Years Eve after a drunken mistake and a hookup, Valariya & Azriel must go through the motions of regret and trying to understand what it meant.
ᴡᴀʀɴɪɴɢꜱ: smut (like riiight at the beginning), not a happy ending btw, themes of smoking, regret, piv, azriel is manipulative and sorta kind of a jerk
ᴀ/ɴ: this was a really old, like old oneshot that i made of valariya and azriel so it might not exactly be up to par. it's certainly not as good as my new writing, i think, idk. anyway, i think i was either listening to the weeknd, ethel cain, or lana del rey when i wrote this. i don't even remember. also, can this count as a oneshot? this might be too long to be a blurb.
There were two things Valariya hated about herself:
Her terrible sense of will
When Azriel left her that day, when he left her lying in bed after promising her forever then ran off with the lyrics to their songs—oh God, she vowed to hate him forever. She vowed to never associate herself with him again. That was a lie. A big, fucking lie. Because no one really got away from Azriel Gethin, did they?
No, they got caught up in him again.
In his fingers, his eyes, and that little thing he did that sent butterflies up her stomach. Valariya knew she was pathetic. The most pathetic person she’d ever met and that was saying something. Her friends say she needs to work on herself, have more self respect—they’re all hypocrites. They drink and smoke and fuck just like her.
It was the night of New Years Eve.
Valariya should’ve been at her friend’s apartment, she should’ve been watching the countdown then screaming and drinking when it was a New Year. A fresh start, that was her New Year’s resolution. Have a new start and be a better person because she hadn’t been the most…pleasant.
“Azriel,” She moaned, her fingers digging into his shoulders as his lips pressed harsh kisses against her skin.
They had something. Something real, something that nobody could really understand. Maybe that was just the alcohol talking; they were both undeniably drunk after all. Azriel’s hand gripped her thigh, hiking it up his leg and onto his hip as he thrust deeper, faster. The blank space behind her closed eyes burst into stars while Azriel nuzzled the tip of his nose against her cheekbone.
“I missed you.” He groaned, kissing beneath the tail of her brow then her temple. “Missed you so fuckin’ much, m’sorry baby. I’m so sorry.”
The words were the same slop he spilled every time he got like this. Drunk and angry and alone. She believed them because she, too, was drunk and angry and alone, and that was a dangerous thing to be. Valariya let out a choked whine, her head tipping back in pleasure. She could barely feel anything outside of the hazy feeling of the alcohol and the knot that quickly began its unraveling in her gut. Azriel continued to piston his hips, soft whimpers leaving his lips that he muffled against her throat.
Softly, Azriel’s scarred fingers traced down the peaks of her brown tits, down her sternum and belly button, and all the way down to that special place almost every guy ignored. Not Azriel. No, that was one of his better qualities. His fingers rolled circles into that bundle of nerves, sending sparks up her back that had her thighs shaking.
“Azriel!” She gasped, “Oh, fuck! Fuck, fuck, fuck—so close—please, please—!”
Her begging seemed to give him energy because Azriel’s fingers rolled faster, in time with his thrusts. The pleasure, the slight burn from his size, oh it was too much—suddenly, she saw stars beneath her eyelids. She felt them too. They were there, they were so real, she felt it all. Caressing her, kissing her, worshipping her. Azriel continued his desperate thrusts until she felt him tense, and heard his soft moans. She ran her hands up and down his tattooed spine, tracing the inked wings there.
Azriel pulled out and away before he took off the condom and tied it up.
Safe sex. No need to get pregnant, right?
He leaned over and dropped it into the trash can as Valariya sat up and looked for her dropped bra. She hated this part. The part where she realized what she did and that little friend of hers came back. Her friend wasn’t so much a friend as it was a needy, clingy child. It latched onto her every time she did something shitty and it never let go. Valariya slowly pulled on the white cami and leaned onto her dresser to look for her cigarettes.
“Please be here.” She whispered. More to God than she did to herself. She just hoped he would listen to a desperate bitch like her.
“Relax,” Azriel grumbled. “I have some.”
When Valariya pulled back, he leaned over to his pants and grabbed the pack. It looked half dead, only two left, but it would do. He picked one out and placed it between her lips before he took her lighter off the dresser and clicked the flame alive. Her eyes met his as he lit it. Browns, greens, and ambers lived in his irises but what she always focused on was his pupil. How it slightly widened when he was focused on something. How he looked at her after all this, drunk and hungry, and he pretended like she was the most beautiful thing in the world.
Maybe she was pathetic for hanging onto that feeling. Maybe she wasn’t anything more than a girl holding onto what was taken from her two years ago.
Valariya leaned back against her barred headboard and let the smoke burn her lungs. She let it ravage her mind and make friends with the crappy liquor she bought earlier that day. It felt good. Everything always felt good at the start. She swallowed the impending dryness in her and took another drag. Azriel just looked at her. He stared before he buried his face against her neck and took a deep breath.
“You a real shitty person, yknow that?” Valariya said. She took another drag. “A really, shitty, fucked-up person for doing this to me.”
Azriel kissed her skin. You wouldn’t barely be able to see any marks, not against her dark brown skin, but they were there. “I know. I’m sorry baby. I’m so sorry. You know that.”
He looked up at her with such soft puppy eyes. He took one of her looser curls in between his fingers, rolling it and gently tugging it to watch it bounce back. When it did, he smiled. “I just showed you, and told you, I think.”
“Hm, you sleeping with me again? That’s your apology?” When he kissed her jaw, she scoffed.
“Mhm. And by the sound of it, you forgave me.” He kissed back down to her collarbones, suckling there while his hands ran up and down her thighs. Along her waist, her hips.
He kissed her nipples through the shirt, nipping at them through the fabric, then he plucked her cigarette from her fingers and placed it between his lips. Valariya reveled in watching the smoke fill his mouth, watching it blow out onto her chest. He was so pretty like this. All ruffled, his face worn and slightly glowing, his body bare. Valariya carefully took in the planes of his face, all sharp and prominent. She took in his jaw and the set of his dark, thick brows. She drew his lips with her eyes. They had a small cupid’s bow, barely visible but it was there. In some ways, he looked more feminine than masculine.
Valariya would never admit it, but she liked that about him.
She hated his eyes. How they captivated and made her feel far too open. She hated his hair, the black strands that always sat either awkwardly or just right—no in between. She hated his scoffs. She hated his pride. She hated him.
As much as she loved him, she wanted him to leave.
But then, he set the cigarette on the ash tray and he pressed his lips to hers. Oh, how sweet it was. How gentle and so disgusting. She hated his kisses too. How he tasted like smoke and liquor and that sour candy he always liked. How the tip of his tongue brushed at the seam of her lips, desperate for entry. She hated how he touched her so harshly and yet kissed her so tenderly as if he didn’t know what he wanted to do. What he wanted them to be.
Valariya groaned. She melted. She touched and made a fool of herself because that’s what she did around him. She never liked it. She never appreciated being treated this way, but his kisses made the pain leave for just a moment. Azriel’s scarred hand cupped her cheek, his face leaned to deepen the embrace. Her hands moved to his hair to pull him while her teeth nipped at his lip. Azriel pulled away, his bottom lip slightly bloody. He licked over it with a chuckle then kissed her cheek.
He moved his attention to her shoulder. A single kiss and then he just—rested there. His shoulders moved with every breath, a heaving that weighed deep. It was as if he realized what he did. What he was doing. The guilt on his face, beneath his skin. It was as if reality came crashing down on them. A dark feeling pooled in her gut, pulling and yawning, making itself known.
Valariya looked at the wall, at the mirror before them. She looked like a mess. Her tangled curls, her bare legs beneath the fucked up sheets. Her face almost sunken. She had to be really stupid to do this again. To sleep with him again. Valariya’s gaze moved to her legs and the mess he’d made between them. A feeling of nausea roiled over her like a drowning wave.
“I gotta go.” He whispered. Good.
This was good. Valariya didn’t need him. She didn’t need him. Her chest tightened and the familiar feeling of nerves.
She was wrong before. This was the part she hated most. The feeling of regret, the abandonment as he put on his pants and walked out the door, leaving for his perfect parties and his concerts. His concerts with her lyrics. The songs they made together. Valariya swallowed and reached for the cigarette. She took a deep pull while she heard him get dressed.
Underwear, pants, belt. Shirt, hoodie, socks, and finally, shoes.
Azriel looked as if he’d never been here. As if he hadn’t touched her or kissed her or even apologized. He ran a hand through his hair and looked at her. The softness was gone. It left as quickly as it came.
“Happy New Years, Valariya.”
Valariya waited until the sound of the front door shutting filled her apartment then she waited again for the first tear to fall. It didn’t, it never did.
That was another thing Valariya hated about herself.
Her desperate attachment to a shitty rockstar.
