I totally understand that, how did it go anyways? Did you get caught up? I’m doing alright, I did catch up a little on sleep and no matter what I’m always ready to go on game night.

Study Buddy || Finchel

WHO: Finn Hudson & Rachel Berry WHAT: Finn gets his first tutoring session from Rachel  WHEN: 4:00 pm  WHERE: School Library

Finn ducked his head as he pushed open the library door and went all the way to the back to get the furthest table he could find. Like in another zip code far. Maybe in the next school district. It’s not like he had a problem with the library. He just had better places to be. Places that aren’t getting tutored by Sam’s best friend. He was really insistent on it being her and not some other dweeb she could’ve recommended, but he was starting to regret it a little bit. He could tell that she was really smart so she’d probably a be a good tutor or whatever but a part of it was that so he could see into Sam’s life a little better. Not in a creepy way. Maybe in a making a statement sort of way. It was like “I’m here and you’re here and there’s no boundary anymore.”

Anyway,  he sank back in his chair a little bit, and pulled a textbook out and just let it open to whatever page it wanted to. He wanted to make it seem like he was trying to be productive before they even started, but he was pretty sure she wasn’t gonna buy it. He checked his phone and started thinking about how he was about to get stood up for a tutoring session of all things. He shook his had and started to gather his stuff up again to leave, but right before he stood up, he saw her approaching his table, so he sat back and nodded as a greeting.

That, and it might be a giveaway to the coaches that you ate junk. I know they are, but that’s why I worry. Are you sure? I’m fine, I promise. Just trying to help ease some of the pressure off you.

Rachel: Did you even know my name prior to Sam's transfer?

Rachel: Fine. Tomorrow after school. Five minutes.

Finn: No, but our school is huge. Can't know everyone in it.

Finn: Awesome. I'll be outside the gym.

Rachel: You called me lame. Hardly complimentary.

Rachel: You haven't exactly been warm and welcoming. I refuse to be some sort of pawn in a twisted game. My loyalties lie with him.

Finn: No, I said spending the whole night doing work was lame.

Finn: I'm not asking you to switch loyalties or whatever you think is happening. You can be friends with him and still tutor me. I'm not asking you to hang out.

Finn: Do you need some proof or something? Meet me by my locker tomorrow and I'll show you my last chem test.

Rachel: Cute. I can't decide whether I should laugh or roll my eyes.

Rachel: I most certainly did not. You insulted me and I responded in kind. Besides, the formal definition of dumb is to be mute. Something you obviously are not.

Rachel: He's my best friend.

Finn: You sort of did but whatever. Okay, you don't have to go all dictionary on me.

Finn: So?

Rachel: "Want to." Wanna is not a word.

Rachel: Why would I? You haven't exactly been cordial.

Rachel: Yes. Which is exactly why I said I would refer you to someone.

Rachel: Does the name Sam ring any bells?

Finn: See, you're already trying to help.

Finn: I know. The one time we spoke, you said I was dumb. Which is why I need a tutor.

Finn: Yeah obviously like a hundred bells, but what's that got to do with anything?

Rachel: I have plenty to keep me occupied.

Rachel: I can't be your tutor, Finn. It wouldn't be right. That being said, I refuse to have your failure on my conscience, so how about I refer you to another highly qualified student tutor.

Finn: Why don't you wanna do it?

Finn: And you can't say "my failure" because I wouldn't fail if I had a tutor. Gotta be another reason.

Finn: Professional tutors aren't the same as someone who actually goes to my school. Didn't you say you liked having extra school stuff do?
