2. What is/was your character’s relationship with their mother like?Answered!

3.  What is/was your character’s relationship with their father like?Very bad. His father is the reason he hasn’t been back to his homestead ever since he left years and years ago to pursue wrestling. He was derided for being unable to deal with his PTSD issues ‘like a man’ and for wanting to be some stupid carnival attraction by going into wrestling (what nonsense). There were plenty of yelling matches. 

5. On an average day, what can be found in your character’s pockets?Hankerchief, gloves, phone, wallet, military-grade Swiss army knife, sunglasses, Starbucks coupons, eye drops. 

7. Does your character have recurring themes in their nightmares?Answered!

11. In what situation was your character the most afraid they’ve ever been?The explosion which killed his squadron. He was unmercifully lucid through all of the pain and the horror of burning fires and mangled limbs and faces no longer recognizable as human. 

13. Is your character bothered by the sight of blood? If so, in what way?Not at all. 

17. What was your character’s favorite toy as a child?A wooden rifle his mother helped him make. His brother and he would collect nuts and large seeds to use as ammo and stage mock battles across their farm. 

19. What is your character’s biggest relationship flaw? Has this flaw destroyed relationships for them before?Has never dated before and tends to put all his eggs in one basket. In the case with Natalya, this has lead him to completely retreat emotionally from any other romantic advances. 

23. What does your character dislike in other people?Answered!

29. What did your character dream of being or doing as a child? Did that dream come true?He didn’t really have dreams as a child outside of seeing the world beyond the provincial life on the farm, and he’s done just that. 

31. Describe a scenario in which your character feels most comfortable.The fire crackles with warmth as he sits on a cozy couch for two with T.H. White’s Once and Future King he reads aloud in one hand, warm coffee on the side table within reach and the head of his adopted ward resting upon his lap, the young boy having dozed off midway several minutes ago. In front of the hearth is a massive Ovcharka---relaxed but watchful while the matronly old housekeeper knitting a scarf in her favorite armchair with a kitten asleep on her shoulders looks up at him curiously. “Is something wrong Claudey?”she asks, gazing at him from over her half-moon spectacles. “He’s fallen asleep. Should we tuck him in?” “Oh that can wait. Keep on reading.”

He blinks once and nods with a smile, gently patting the boy’s shoulders and as the hours pass into midnight, the baritone of his voice went on, bringing to life the stories of knights and kings and hope within dreams where fire and brimstone and suffering once reigned. 

37. Is your character more concerned with defending their honor, or protecting their status?Answered!

41.Does your character feel that they deserve to have what they want, whether it be material or abstract, or do they feel they must earn it first?He started off as a shepherd boy. He’s earned everything he has today. 

43. Has your character ever had a dependent figure who was not related to them?Yes. He’s currently caring for a Syrian refugee child he’s in the process of fostering. He’s also taking care of his neighbor’s rent in return for their hospitality when he was hurt.

21. If something tragic or negative happens to your character, do they believe they may have caused or deserved it, or are they quick to blame others?Oooh ohohohohoh look this man sort of sees himself as half-dead some days, he would absolutely take it upon himself. 

37. Is your character more concerned with defending their honor, or protecting their status?Answered!

42. Has your character ever had a parental figure who was not related to them?

Dave Taylor, the person who trained him during his time in the British circuit is probably the best bet. His own father did not approve of his choice of career after his time with the military was over, and it meant the world to him that someone in the business would take him when he was hurt, aimless and angry with the world under their wing.

9. Is your character’s current socioeconomic status different than it was when they were growing up?VERY. He used to live on a little farm in the Alps shepherding day in and day out. Now he’s living in a penthouse in Brooklyn and sports Bespoke suits. 

14. Does your character remember names or faces easier?Names. His eyesight is compromised, his hearing isn’t. 

23. What does your character dislike in other people?Bad manners, too much chatter with too little sensibility (as far as he’s concerned, Americans abuse ‘freedom of speech’ way too much), partaking in cruelty for amusement. 

34. Is your character more likely to keep trying a solution/method that didn’t work the first time, or immediately move on to a different solution/method?Answered!

2. What is/was your character’s relationship with their mother like?It was a good relationship and she cared a lot for him but she was always exhausted from working on the farm and could be hands-off with him and his brother’s care. He allowed her rest whenever she needed it and learned to be independent for himself so that he wouldn’t need to bother her as often. It’s why he’s usually adamant about doing things on his own. They still talk occasionally though he hasn’t been to the family home in years. 

7. Does your character have recurring themes in their nightmares?Explosions, charred faces frozen in agonized screams, the sweet yet cloying smell of burning human flesh. 

8. Has your character ever fired a gun? If so, what was their first target?As a former soldier yes. Local warlords attempting to take over city ruins mainly.

34. Is your character more likely to keep trying a solution/method that didn’t work the first time, or immediately move on to a different solution/method?Move to a different solution. Only idiots do the same thing over and over again expecting a different outcome. 

37. Is your character more concerned with defending their honor, or protecting their status?Protecting his status. He doesn’t see himself as having that much honor to uphold, but he guards what he has very fiercely
