Damn, Nelson is dumb af.
I've been rewatching all Robert and willow scenes and the thing I notice is that Robert never genuinely smiled at anyone besides Len and Willow. And with willow, it wasn't an instant attraction(I hate insta-romance), he looked like he was bored when she first approached him about the candidates but after the hufflepuff joke, his smile changes from polite to genuine. Willow is the first one to treat him as a normal person, not a prince or a king since he returns.
Yes, I noticed that as well!! Robert has mastered that fake, polite smile politicians usually give and itās really hard to see him give a genuine smile. But he does with Eleanor and with Willow.
And youāre completely right about their first meeting. Itās kinda funny, actually, because while there were sparks and chemistry, it wasnāt one of those cases of love at first sight. On the contrary, in the beginning Robert is trying to be polite, but anyone can see he desperately wants to get out of that conversation. And when she starts asking that question about the island, Robert is looking at her like, āseriously?ā and probably doubting her intelligence. But then, on the next question about the troll, he starts to get into it. He seems to be more involved in the conversation and actually takes his time answering, maybe because those are not questions he was expecting from someone searching for his bride. We can also see he thought she was funny when she sorted him in Gryffindor (though they both know heās Slytherin, lol), but it really is when she pretends to get all upset about his Hufflepuff comment that he is sold on her. Meaning, itās Willow being Willow, funny, sassy and spiritous, that makes Robert smile. She is not being anyone but herself, she is not trying to impress him, and I think thatās what makes it so easy for Robert to be himself around her, smile genuinely and flirt with her.Ā
And tbh Robert desperately needs someone like that in his life. He tries so much to be in control all the time and be prepared for anything that he hardly gets to just be. Then we have Willow who can be a ray of sunshine, funny and sassy that allows him to smile, have fun and be himself while also being supportive and someone he can rely on and share his burdens. Can you see why they are so perfect for each other??? Ā Ā
Family.
PRINCE ROBERT AND WILLOW SHOULD BE TOGETHER
We need to find a girl Robert and the country can fall in love with.
ROBERT IS NOT A MONSTER!
Ā Ā Ā that being said, i will not play fully into his victim card. but let us get some things straight!!! Ā ( there will most likely be a drabble to follow⦠)Ā Ā Ā Ā Robert was not wrong, nor lying when he said that LIAM caused this. At least the downfall of someone who could have been a very great and compassionate man, a man who wanted nothing more than to prove his father WRONG. ( Sound familiar? Insert: Season 1, Liam Henstridge. ) Unknowingly, Liam sparked his brotherās internal necessity to set the record straight. Sad to say, he made Robert snap when he discovered the one and only reason he had returned was sleeping with his baby brother.Ā Ā Ā Ā So he did bad shit. Calculated ( um, have we forgotten who his mother is? ) Like a game of chess. The same game he was raised on all of his life. Letās just take a look back at that for a moment, a young boy, raised to be a certain way, see things in a certain light, like a robot, this game, this small amount of quality time with his father, was all he ever knew. He was being groomed for greatness, for the very bloodline he was born into: the one duty, the one purpose he was created for: TO BE KING. ā Only to have that ripped away at the last minute and have your father tell you he neither has faith in you but that you are just a bad seed? God, that is terrible!! ā That does not make Robert a MONSTER for his actions, merely misunderstood. Everything he did was a strictly calculated maneuver, much like in the game of chess. Because he can no longer think from his heart, he thinks from his head, as he was raised to do. He lacks passion, where Liam has far too much.Ā Ā Ā Ā When Robert returns, he finds out that Simon is now gone. Heās not only grieving the loss of his Father, but an entire loss of identity. Who is he if not meant to take the crown ā and you can see in so many ways this season he warned Liam of that very notion.Ā āCrowns are for taking! And Iām taking this one!!ā Those words hold no sterner truth now, knowing what his fatherās probably final words were to him.Ā Ā Ā Ā As Liam in Season 2, Robert has suffered a great deal of loss of identity. Who is he if not the very man he was destined to be? I believe Robert when he said he would step down if the queen consented that Liam could have the throne. He would. In a heartbeat, he would and you know why?? It is what Simon would have wanted, and he knew that, he respected that. At least ā he had, until it fully sunk in how betrayed he felt at the aspect of Liam and Kathryn. You see, as brothers, naturally, Liam and Robert are so very different and yet so entirely similar. They are hard-headed and strong-willed. Neither is evil. As Willow might put itĀ ātwo little boys fighting over a crown.āĀ Ā Ā Ā I keep placing myself in both their shoes. Robert was very wrong to do some of the things he did, however he was looking through a shade of different colored glass than everyone else: one in which every move heās had to make was of proper protocol. They shouldnāt be slumming with the help, they are regarded as ROYALTY and there are rules! Ā Jasper isnāt good enough for Eleanor and Spencer is not good enough for The QUEEN. Therefore, he put a stop to it. There is still a median, a reason why his brain ticks that way. And that look from Helena, thatĀ ādear Godā¦I created this!ā gaze says it all. She knows she has no one to blame but herself.Ā Ā Ā Ā This family was fucked from the beginning and that is something Len has pointed out. I mean look at his very video alone. Robertās motive/excuse now? āI donāt have to explain myself, I am the God Damn King!āĀ Ā Ā Ā Think about itā¦he just saw his father, told he is never good enough to be king, that Simon believes this so much so, that he is disbanding the monarchy, which also instigates the fact: he didnāt believe in ANY of his children. Yeah, thatās right. Not even LIAM. No one was good enough to take his place. So then, Robert is shipped off to the Royal Airforce and here is his golden opportunity to just end it all! If he is really the problem? He has an out. End his life, end his fatherās concerns. ( And as established in S1 ā this is not the case because Simon wishes to disband regardless of Robertās presence or not. ) In Robertās mind heās thinking: Liam and Len see themselves as nothing but the spares, I will prove them wrong. I will give them their shining moment. ā Then, he survives and itās likeā¦the fuck do I do now? So, he remains on the island. Until he cannot any longer, knowing he ought to return to Len, to Kat. Therefore ā seeing Liam with Kat? Shot to the heart!! Now, he is going to settle this and prove Simon WRONG. He will make a great king. Itās HIS crown for the taking, his birthright. Ā If people would look at it objectively like that? They wouldnāt call him a monster, theyād consider the facts that heās a very broken man in a very screwed up family!Ā Ā Ā Ā BOOM. *Drops the mic!* Betty out!
Okay as much as The Royals is making everyone hate Robert. I just canāt. I like him and Iām looking it from his point of view, from the moment he stepped off that island he has had a plan. We donāt know what but we know he has one. Iām excited for more of him. Also Max is doing such an amazing job! I canāt wait for more of him.
Also am I the only one who really ships Willow and Robert? Because unlike a certain prince (Liam) Robert saw that Willow was amazing and smart and perfect. Plus sheās titled so there will be no issue with that. Plus he seems to genuinely like her. Like Iāve only seen him give a honest smile to the women in his life. His sister, his mother, and now Willow.
BEST CAST EVER.Ā
ALEX CRYING IS THE SWEETEST THING EVER.
Iām so over that Robert/Catherine/Liam love triangle already.
And if you expect me to root for Liam and Catherine (or Robert and Catherine), then you can wait a while, because the only relationship I root for in this triangle is Robert/Liam. I hate when a girl is between two brothers (how cliche too, smh), and Iām bitter because we all know how this will end, Robert and Liam will fight each other over a girl, which will mess up all the relationships in the Royal family, and Iām so not here for it.
