oh fuck this show for driving it home that lianzhou “chose wrong”
yeah, sure, mudan’s dad is absolutely a misogynist who doesn’t understand her, but also he’s also absolutely correct that she can only do all this because she has a powerful husband backing her up, and the show’s refusal to actually engage honestly with the second point continues to drive me up the wall.
the heir looks like something i’d enjoy but i’ve hated flourished peony and it’s really put me off yang zi. and it seems like this is going to be the exact same vibes.
flourished peony turning into another dream of splendor smdh

SUN ZHENNI as PIAN RAN Till the End of the Moon 长月烬明 (2023) | Episode 10
i enjoy cheng yi a lot, but his solo fans are so annoying, especially when they act like he's the only reason mlc was such a hit. mlc was such a hit because it was almost uniformly strong on every level, including, very importantly, a good and tight script, and a second lead who could match him and give him more to work with. an actor who doesn't have to carry everything is always going to look better than an actor who does, even if we admire the effort. and it's just a nicer watch for everyone.
“这部剧只有曾老师在认真演戏,其他人都在拍MV… 只有他没有被郭导的风格腌制入味”
这是真的。
tteotm has been everywhere lately because of the anniversary, and it's so sad that i've gone off bai lu, because i still think it's my favourite xianxia.
sometimes i’m reminded about yanxi palace and how many complaints i have about it. beautiful opening sequence tho.
follow your heart had more potential throuple action than mlc, because there actually was a pull between yan nanxing and bai yuan, even though it was clearly going nowhere and existed in the same framework of the third party continually refusing to take no for an answer and needing some kind of reformation.
sorry, ship whatever you want, man, but it's seriously laughable to suggest the relationships in mlc are structured like a throuple or that the plot isn't mainly about llh and fdb and their relationship.
i think i’m in the mood to start a new drama, but i don’t yet know what i’m in the mood for.
guess i’m watching veil of shadows now
no horse in the 🍄 discourse race, but fwiw “judge” in the context of the work makes me think of judge dredd and “arbiter” just makes me think of the character from chess the musical

there are so many shows about women i'd love to talk about, but no one seems to have watched them, or they seem to have watched them once and then moved on, and all the content about women is about either non-characters in shows about men being turned into 'badass' OCs and/or m/m couples being turned into lesbians, which usually amounts to about the same thing.
