Hi!

Welcome to my dumb little mha blog where I rant about any and all things mha related, you can call me Marina. Now that the series ended, I feel a bit safer putting my opinions and thoughts out there about each character and the series itself. My hero academia was one of the first fandoms I've ever been in, and I have a lot of memories with the anime (some better some worse). And I think it'll be nice to interact with the fandom again.

This blog is mostly just self-indulgence, so don't expect anything too serious! Honestly, nowadays it's just me dropping my one-off thoughts. Also, if you have any mha related thoughts, feel free to drop an ask! I love listening to people's thoughts and such!

My favorite characters are Kirishima (obviously) and Rody. And my favorite ship (and possibly the only ship I truly care about) is Rodydeku :)

Not rddk sadly, but mha. As much as I love bakugou ships, I refuse to believe cannon him isn't Aroace. Fannon, go wild. Cannon? Wouldn't touch a romantic relationship even if you paid him.

Nods. I simply think he doesn't gaf and never will (at least in canon). He struggles enough with platonic relationships, he doesn't need or want a romantic one.

Shipping discourse has got to be the most irritating thing I see all the fuckig time 💔 like who cares. Genuinely who cares. And I'm saying this as an aroace person but all these ppl complaining about "shippers putting canon (when 99% of the time it's not explicitly canon) aroace characters in romantic relationships are the fucking devil and are erasing aroace identity" ok guys. What. Can we live and let live PLEASE like why. I don't care if it's a ship post with the worst character interpretations you've ever seen. Move tf on. I don't care if the character IS actually canonically aroace. Move tf on. You are making yourself miserable on purpose by getting hung up on other people's interpretations of a character instead of taking the easy route and moving on.

And I understand!! I really do!! I'm hypocritical because I'm always bitching and moaning about how so many of my favs are horribly generally mischaracterized but if an individual post really makes me so mad that I feel like my identity is being erased (???) I can at least say to myself hey!! Maybe it's time to put the phone down and pick up a coloring book or something. Maybe sign up for a lacrosse team. Something. Anything other than just being miserable as a hobby.

Most of the time these interpretations, albeit annoying, are harmless. They're completely harmless unless you LET them harm you. Choose peace guys pls I beg. I beg. I'm on my hands and knees forehead on the ground pls I beg

Adding onto this because I think there’s a little bit of nuance that gets lost in these kinds conversations, especially when more people reblog.

I’m someone who’s pansexual and demiromantic (I’m not very open about this, obviously), I tend not to explicitly identify with any gender label, and I’ve also questioned whether I fall somewhere on the aro/ace spectrum. This is because I tend to struggle with forming deep intimate connections in the way a lot of people describe. So, believe me when I say that I understand why seeing characters with identities that resonate with you being interpreted differently can feel frustrating or even personal.

But I also think there’s a point where fandom spaces start blurring the line between “this interpretation bothers me” and “this interpretation is actively harming me.”

Like, representation absolutely matters. No one’s arguing that—Having characters who are explicitly aro/ace, or who people can see themselves in, is important. As is all representation. Nobody should be trying to erase those identities or act like they don’t exist. But at the same time, fictional characters are interpreted by hundreds of thousands different people in hundreds of thousands different ways.

Someone shipping a character, even if that character is often perceived as aro/ace, doesn’t automatically mean they’re invalidating aro/ace people or making some statement about real identities. Sometimes it’s literally just someone enjoying a fictional dynamic. Interpretation goes as far as that. And don’t get me wrong, you can dislike a ship or think someone’s characterization is wrong. BUT, you can do that without needing to treat every person who enjoys it like they’re doing something malicious.

Honestly, fandoms would be a lot healthier if people remembered that not every disagreement needs to become a moral battle. Sometimes you can just scroll past something you don’t like and continue enjoying the things that make you happy. Hell, BLOCK PEOPLE if their content bothers you. I can proudly say I’m not one to shy away from blocking or restricting people’s access to my profiles!

I wonder if current Rody met middle school Izuku if Rody and his dynamic would be different. Bc I love him but I'm sure middle school Izuku was Obnoxious ab heroes, and I think that'd immediately turn Rody off bc Izu would most likely try and convince Rody into liking heroes or at least go on a small (well meaning) tangent about how great they are. Bc Izuku was still naive about the hero world, and only saw heroes as these mighty beings. Rody only saw them as people who used their powers to make money.

Honestly I find it so odd that Izuku, Bakugou, and Todoroki are made out to be an iconic trio with a great friendship and dynamic. They literally had one arc in which they all consistently interacted lmao
