This is the first page of the prologue, which will explain the backstory of why our three main characters must go into the dungeon (spoiler: swords). After that, chapter 1 will jump right into the action!

Normally the only time I re-design a character is years later when my skills have improved, so doing it so soon after her initial design was super weird

We’ve been calling this the “demo page” because we both needed practice Doing The Thing— we’ve never made comics before! It was a huge learning experience for us and we’re going to take a lot of what we learned and apply it to the prologue (Ismelda needs a huge redesign for one thing; we made her first, loved her, and then made her friends infinitely cooler than her).

Swords in The Dungeon follows Ismelda, Mai, and Wes on their quest. They are the children of adventurers who once tried and failed to find the mythic swords of power said to lie deep in the Dungeon, and instead became sealed into the Dungeon by a door that refuses to open; the trio have lived their whole lives in an underground community. But when Ismelda hears a voice she believes to be her Goddess Edin calling out to her, she and her friends trek deep into the forbidden Dungeon, convinced that finding the swords is the key to getting out of the Dungeon and to the surface.
