so that no one may boast before Him. It is because of Him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. - 1 Corinthians 1:29-30 ‘
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast."
-Ephesians 2:8-9
You couldn’t stand before a judge and throw everything good you’ve done in life at him to free yourself from the consequence of the laws you’ve broken. Good works will never save you - only the debt Jesus paid on the cross to atone for our transgressions and let us walk free is enough. Jesus was the only one who lived a perfect sinless life unlike the rest of us who have all sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23-24).
Jesus Christ triumphed over death through His resurrection. He died and rose again on the third day, never to die again.
“The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!” - Mark 1:15
Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved (Acts 16:31). God has already done all of the work. All you must do is receive, in faith, the salvation God offers (Ephesians 2:8-9). Fully trust in Jesus alone as the payment for your sins. Believe in Him, and you will not perish (John 3:16). God is offering you salvation as a gift. All you have to do is accept it. When you’re genuinely saved true repentance and good works will follow as a by product… because you’ll have a changed heart and want to genuinely do your best to serve the Lord. This is the good fruit you bear showing you're saved (Matthew 7:16-18). We are also to bear fruit in keeping with repentance (Matthew 3:8).
I repeat. Good works have nothing to do with your salvation. They come after salvation naturally because of your changed heart from being saved.
"Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." - John 14:6
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” - Romans 6:23
Why did Jesus have to die? Could God not have found another way for our sins to be forgiven than Jesus dying on the cross?
