I can see this is you trying to get back at me, Ladd. But I gotta tell you, it’s not going to work. Why is it not going to work? Well I’m glad you questioned yourself that and I will gladly answer that for you.

See, the reason it’s not going to work is because I won’t allow it. You so much as look at Chane or her father or even sneeze funnily that has me suspicious and I will rip your other arm from your body.

How will I do that? Well, I’ve seen some interesting toys in your boy’s garage…. I would have loved to try them on that kid but we never got to a fight so while I still have all these ideas and no one to try them on yet I am of course looking for a volunteer and if you know what’s good for you… You’ll be good.

There isn’t anything I wouldn’t do for him and the feeling is mutual. You think a guy like Firo would walk away from a friendship of more than 12 years, hm? If he isn’t the one telling me to leave then, well, I ain’t going anywhere.”

Something appeared to be off but, she seemed reserved and--- did she recognize him? The feeling wasn’t mutual; he’d never seen the woman before in his life but it’s enough to have him drop the act of confused civilian and he slowly smiles. “Say, it’s rude to stare, you know?” He says and slowly removes his hands from the pockets of his coat. “Surely you were taught better than that.” And now the guessing game came, Claire not a fan of being left in the dark while his opponent was more briefed up on him. “Why don’t you start by telling me why you are here.”

      “Something like that hasn’t happened in years,” he frowns, annoyed that he even has to recall those old memories. When he was younger, people always seemed to mistake him for a girl. He was kidnapped once because of it! Keith Gandor and his father had to show up and save him. That hadn’t helped at all, either - it made him feel even more like a damsel in distress! Being reminded of that day always manages to dampen Firo’s mood. “…and I’m not sick. My head just hurts.” Or, something like that. He meant it when he said he wasn’t feeling like himself. It’s a little panic-inducing.

“Easy there, I was just trying to figure out what’s gotten you so troubled. You know I’d never allow anyone to hurt you again, right?” Claire’s seen Firo before like this, it’s always worrisome on what will happen and what it is Claire can do to make it better for him. He doesn’t remember wanting his friend to be hurt and it must have slipped his mind to keep Firo from feeling pained. “Hey, Firo.” He says, softly, reaches out and places a hand on on top of Firo’s. “You wanna get out here? Get some fresh air? Maybe head home?”
