As the woman explained the justification for the prolonged introduction, they nodded, understanding. “Ahh, that makes more sense now. I like it!”

“Sounds pretty American to me,” Nova chuckled, shaking her head at the thought. She loved fireworks and ever since she had moved to the States, the fireworks often ran rampant compared to back home in Auckland. “Thanks! Stripping that song into bits and doing all that and focusing on the first, but glorious 23 second strings intro was definitely one of my favorite parts.”

“Oh neither. I am just a simple makeup artist.” She chuckled back at her. She listened to her speak, nodding her head slightly while a smile rested on her lips. “I have stage fright so I can’t relate.” She laughed. She much preferred to be behind the scenes anyway. “Hm maybe.. I don’t know too much about music.. I have tried to like learn a bit more about it, and like I like listening to it, but overall I am a rookie.” She added with a small shrug.

“WOAH. That is one big flex,” Nova called out with a bright grin. If there was one thing she loved aside music and food, it was makeup. “That is so amazing!--Do you mind if I ask you a few makeup related questions, by the way?” She asked with a bright-eyed smile. “I understand stage fright...it’s...whew. I try to focus on like, the energy rather than the people, you know? I dunno how to really explain it,” She scratched her head in admission. “It’s totally valid to be a rookie with music! I mean, after all, it all starts with your favorite song.”

“Me neither, but I think it’s pretty unique!! They honestly look madly in love with each other--wait...” Nova trailed off. “Oh my god, they’re MADLY IN LOVE! That’s why Joker and Harley! That’s their take!!! Ahhhh! I dunno what took me so long to take it!” She shook her head and laughed. “Thank you for your feedback, by the way!”

“In passing, yeah! I’ve seen you and Maya hanging out when I was a kid. I’m her neighbor, you probably don’t remember me because all my teeth grew in and my hair’s significantly lighter. I used to be the one that would use my trampoline to peek and see what you guys were doing,” Nova admitted to her much more nosier days...as if that ever changed. “Hm? Oh, no. I do gigs elsewhere, I’ve been here before though! The open mic nights are pretty solid!”

Like…Trixie shows me music or sometimes they’ll play cool music at the book store…Discover Weekly on Spotify keeps me from getting too bored.”

“That’s good! I’m glad to see and hear that you’re alive! Nothing gives me more joy than that,” She grinned brightly. “I’m good! Y’know, just saving up and doing some extra gigs before the Great Grecian Adventure!” Nova began setting a few of her systems up to make sure Mike would be able to listen as clearly as he could. “So like...you don’t have a favorite song? Or a song that like tugs at your heart strings that gets you going? A song that reminds you of someone?”

[ Bodhi gave a nod. “As much as I like Disney and want to go one day, they’re bad news. My sister goes off about them all the time,” he replied. Bodhi stepped up to the counter and motioned to Nova to order. He laughed at Nova’s excitement. “My best friend and I were the resident space nerds, too,” he explained, thinking back to the trips that him and Wes would take. Nova’s attitude and vibes were comforting. “You absolutely are destined for great things,” Bo affirmed. He inhaled and then exhaled, “This isn’t as much as yours but,” he smiled and laughed a little, “My name, Bodhi, is the shortened form of the word bodhisattva. It’s the enlightenment an individual needs to reach Nirvana in the Buddhist tradition,” Bo explained, sheepishly. “It’s also a sacred fig tree in India.”

The blonde nodded in agreement to what Bodhi was saying. He and his sister, had a point. “No no, you’re totally right! I mean, have you ever wondered about how Disney and the United States both hold this idealized, ‘most magical place in the world’ type of title, but all they do is attempt to monopolize everything and there’s darkness behind that magic?” She inquired with a curious look. “Space always brings the people together,” She added, trying her hardest to keep a straight face with her pun. She enjoyed Bodhi’s energy and honestly, first impressions weren’t always everything, right? She nodded and bowed politely as if she would towards someone older than her, mostly because she was very honored for the compliment. “Woah...you know what? I could see that! Not the fig tree, but enlightennment. You definitely seem like someone who just, has their heads on their shoulders. Definitely an old soul type of guy.”

Nova’s eyes lit up in excitement. That, was the response she had been hoping for. If she was able to touch the souls of people with her music, she knew she was doing something right. “Awesome!” She grinned. “I was hoping it wasn’t anything too...cheesy or something of the sort, y’know? Break out of tradition for a change!”

Enzo pulled out his guitar from the case as he started pulling his fingers over the strings gently, tuning it in so it was ready for later. He had decided to grab some lunch before band practice, and was patiently waiting for his club sandwich to arrive when someone stepped into the light in front of him, “Do you mind?” He asked, “I was kind of enjoying that.”

Nova’s brain was wracked with a long to-do list of things she needed to get done before her long awaited trip to Greece. She sighed, taking a look at her phone, checking off yet another thing to get ready, when she could see a stream of green gently pass by her as she heard the gentle strumming. “Huh? Wha--oh. Sorry,” Nova moved aside a little bit. “Hey, nice tune by the way!”

hard not to miss not knowing, hard not to miss being younger and more uncertain but less worried about the uncertainty. it feels like happiness changes. it feels less silly and naïve and absurd. what a beautiful thing, to feel joy childishly. now it feels like such a purposeful thing, something i have to create in myself. it isn’t that it isn’t nice, or sweet or good. but it feels less like… less like a breeze. i do not feel like i am being carried, i feel like i am moving myself into a direction. and sometimes it would be nice to be carried. i can no longer throw my arms up. i can no longer claim to not know. i must know and i must go on with it.

Nova’s eyes widened at the thought. Tae-Kyung was definitely onto something here on the similarities between space and the ocean. What if the ocean and space were actually one and because the waters were so deep...no one knew about it? It wouldn’t harm to ask, let alone add onto the theory that the other had mentioned. “Okay okay, but...isn’t it also coincidental that you feel weightless in the water just as you feel weightless in space as well before experiencing the crushing effect?” She asked curiously. “I mean...what if, and this is a stretch, what if the deepest part of the earth is just merely connected to space and we just don’t know it? What if, Mariana’s Trench is actually a portal to space?”

“I figured you’d say something along those lines,” Nova teased as she bounced her way excitedly over to her old friend. “Um, duh?” She giggled and hugged the guy as tightly as she could. It was always nice to see another friendly face around. “Awww come on,” She playfully shoved his shoulder, “You managed to make it back to Santa Monica without me, so I’d say that’s progress! But, it’s been a long long long time! How have you been?! Have you been eating cause you don’t look like you have and you know my eomma’s gonna scold you,” She pointed out with a knowing look. Parker was one of Nova’s very close friends that she often times would drag along to her parents’ restaurant to work on music together. While he was much more reserved in the emotion factor, she often encouraged him to let it out through his music. “Ayeee! Glad to see you went back to your Pico roots too--but hey you know that rat infested place actually got bought out by the Maxwells and rent’s cheaper there too, so anyone displaced from the Pico crisis actually have homes now! I found out from this lady who runs this food truck who’s good friends with eomma because she usually runs her business right around there,” Nova explained with a grin. “A few work things?! Ooooh, what’s Parker Rios up to now?”
