“am not!” eyes narrowed so fiercely, she can hardly see the other as she curses him under her breath. gigi threw an immature grimace before attempting to calm herself down, eyes rolling once they’re back to their usual, abnormally large size. “ugh, that would mean you’re a hillbilly. please, even slater isn’t that stupid.”

               he’s languid where he rests on the cushions, limbs buoyant in the zephyr of summer. where his skin sticks to the cotton of his t shirt in uneven splotches he feels tepid. his lids are closed and lethargic, body spent and praying for comatose, when the raucous tenor halts his utopia in the exclamation of prying tidings. ❛ oh no fricken way ! ❜ soles planted on the rug instantaneously and impression left on the couch where his body once lay. he’s pacing now, bloated with trepidation and false hope. ❛ did she say anything about me ? i’ve been meaning to ask her out. do you think she’d like grease ? i mean, i hate musicals but it just hit the theatres and i could totally take her to the drive in. ❜

each word slater spoke only fed her growing anger, platforms digging into the stained rug below her as she fought the urge to extend her leg to trip him. livid and struggling, gigi straightened out her expression before responding, “actually, she did mention you...” one ankle crossing the over while fingers pressed white marks of fury into the skin of her arms, she adjusted her original story to suit her. “i think her exact words were ‘good job finally ditching that dillhole.’” eyebrows unknitting so they can raise with the delivery, voice heavy with exaggerated pity. “yep! but you could always ask courtney?”

inhaling a breath to recollect herself from the ongoing taunt, biting her tongue because gigi was pretty much – her only friend. “or break them in half,” max mumbled underneath her breath, irises trailing towards the carpeted rug on the floor. however, the female snapped her attention back towards the other when the words came tumbling out of her mouth about a rumor, “gigi, why bother? already creamed her the first time around, it’s exactly what she wants you to do.”

gigi didn’t catch what max was mumbling, so she decided to fill in the blanks with her own assumptions. responding rudely, “you’re right. we have bigger issues than the size of your feet,” she missed her own joke and leaned forward, pressing a finger to her chin in thought. “please, max. i know that, but this isn’t about me. there are people we have to protect! you know how she is. what if she makes a move on billy now? or sila-ter.” mouth gaping after she barely caught her slip, gigi cleared her throat and attempted to move on, “you know what turns off all men, especially slater? babies.”

          winnie is immediately reminded why she’s not interested in a friendship with the girl next to her. always going on about her petty high school problems, acting as if another girl glancing at her the wrong way was the end of the world. though, she has to admit that she’s not blind to someone like pam macy and her actions so she finds herself nodding along with gigi. “ leave it to someone like her to use flattery as a way to get under someone else’s skin. she needs to exercise some of that LOVE on herself. god knows she needs it. ”

"right? especially if she thinks her bitchy attitude is going to have any effect on me,” she spoke, despite her obvious frustration triggered by pam. remarkably, gigi made the conscious decision to lie much less frequently than the average teenage girl; but she was always spitting delusions. “whatever. she graduated, her glory days are over. no man in this town is going to marry her now,” with her obsolete views, she stood to grab a tab can from the crate atop mrs forrester’s freezer. leaning against it as she took a sip of the soda, her tone changed as she searched for a starting point to butter the other up, “what are you reading? i love nancy drew books.”

taking immediate note of the way the other female had twisted her words, shaking her head lightly before responding with, “keep telling yourself that, i’m sure it’ll come true one of these days.” yet, max furrowed her brows at the next statement, taking a quick glance at her feet to then call gigi out, “hey! they’re not that big but c’mon - you’re gigi rodriguez! don’t let pam macy, get under your skin.”

gigi took offense to max’s response for a brief moment, quickly moving on due to the nature of their relationship. pressing one hand to her chest, the other grabbing her friend’s wrist, she offered a sympathetic look as she cooed, “it’s okay, your role is important. lumberjacks exist to make their petite friends look better!” throwing her arms up as if she’d made an excellent point, gigi grinned. “you’re right. i could easily ruin her life! should we tell everyone she’s pregnant?”

tossing her hair over her shoulder, now extremely invested in whatever ridiculous story was about to unravel, her initial reason for being here long forgotten. yet, what emerged from her mouth was something that wasn’t necessarily surprising, considering when it came to gigi. a slightly confused but amused expression lied on her visage. “gigi, wait – how do you know it wasn’t genuine? or did she like, y’know have one of those really tight lipped smiles because in that case,” the brunette nodded before continuing, “that bitch!”

“mhm, i know it’s hard to believe.” gigi naturally took whatever she pleased from max’s response, twisting words so she’d feel better about herself. “how can she think she’s allowed to treat me like that? everybody loves me! everybody.” what seemed like a blatant lie to anyone else, gigi was entirely convinced, making the situation so much worse. a growl led her into her next words, brow furrowed, “oh, max. it was horrible. i wish you had been there to crush her with your giant feet.”

the kick brought not only attention, but full out his pure-but-mellow annoyance into the conversation. his bored & boring eyes shifted up at the imbecile seated before him. her comment like her existence, was irrelevant and caused nothing more than the soft irritation he felt for her. hazel hues blinked twice before panning.  “yeah, and that’s why slater has you on his ass. not that anyone’s ever surprised.”

shocked and amused by the female’s outburst about the disliked pasty cracker, he shakes his head laughing. “a friend of a friend told me; we were just talking about snakes then he brought up pam macy. shocking right?” wiggling his brows to add more emphasis to the topic. going silent for a second to listen to the girl’s discussion of how much she dislikes the white (she doesn’t voice it but it’s heavily implied). “wait, what the? that’s disgusting. she’s into older men? god, i always knew there was something iffy about her. like yeah she got big jugs but i never knew she’ll use it to her advantage for wrinkly old men.” shaking his head, disgusted by the thought. “wait you never told me what she told you, what did she say? i wanna know. i’m impatient, please please please tell me i wanna know!” he whined, his lips now forming into a pout. “spill the tea.”

gigi shifted closer with opportunity for more gossip, hands picking foam from the arm of her seat as she rolled her eyes at another mention of pam’s jugs. “she’s into anything with a pulse,” the girl intoned, the remark not far off the truth. thoroughly enjoying the begging, gigi made a great effort to hold her tongue a few extra moments before unleashing her bitterness. “she said i looked nice. sure, i do look better than everyone else in my pretty new dress, but she had that bitchy tone to her voice. no one with hair as flat as her’s was today would go around complimenting people. i bet she was trying to make fun of me, she always had a thing for slater.”

          small legs crossed over one another with a book in her lap, winona’s isn’t able to look up at whoever just burst through the door before a piercing voice fills her ears. despite gigi’s numerous attempts to befriend her, winona wasn’t interested in a friendship with her regardless of how welcoming she had been to her. she would rather ignore the girl, instead taking back the task of figuring out the problem that her book presented but curiosity peaks her interest. “ pam macy——what did SHE have to say ? ”

despite assuming it was fleeting, gigi wasn’t oblivious to winona’s disinterest in her, so she was thrilled in that moment. “okay! get this,” she began, legs folding under her as she leaned towards to the other to tell her story. “so, i was looking for a new beret to match my platforms, and she approached me... like we’re friends. as if i’d ever be friends with a skank like that, right? no thank you! i hardly said a word to her, and y’know what she said? she said ‘you look nice’. how freakin’ bitchy!”

silas was more than used to visitors barging into the basement with a loaded conversation in tow, to the point where he mastered the art of not paying attention half the time. though the high pitched voice that began to pierce the air yanked at his awareness the same way nails on a chalkboard would, and he had no choice other than to listen. “did she say that i don’t care?” he smiled at his own jab, shuffling a deck of cards within his hands. 

gigi’s eyes narrowed at the dismissal, though that was the only acknowledgement she gave it. “why would pam macy say anything about you?” taking it literally seemed less embarrassing than taking offense at the time, her ego already taking one too many blows that day. “don’t tell me you took a ride in her dad’s camaro. oh, silas... you could do better than pam macy.” sitting back with a pointed look, she kicked her feet up, even obnoxious when it came to her own comfort. “but that’s not saying much, is it?”

glancing over the playboy magazine, he chuckles at the girl and his lips quirk into a toothy grin. “woah. pam macy? that girl still around? i thought she got pregnant and got hitched with a 29 year old. wow, i guess rumors are rumors.” he mused. “yikes. were her tiddies all out there? were they jiggling when she talked? were they like… big? tit job?” he laughs as he continued to ramble, seemingly pleased with himself. “oooh. what she say? she left her 29 year old boyfriend for a 40 year old?”

letting mateo ramble, though not entirely listening at the assumption it would all be nonsense, gigi sat tight-lipped and unamused. “wait, what?” she put a few words together once he had finished, leaning forward in her seat. “where did you hear she was pregnant? now that you mention it, she did look even fatter than usual. i can’t wait to tell max!” her excited expression quickly did another one-eighty as she continued to imaginatively piece mateo’s questions into whole thoughts. “you think she would do that? i totally noticed her flirting with my dad at pastor dave’s easter party... ew!”

it was nonetheless common now where any of them would be hanging out, one definitely being the basement. there wasn’t much a certain reason on why max was here other than that she came back to collect a few of her items; which meant that they’d be back here a week or two later. had taken a break from searching around the basement, the door opened abruptly – hinges squeaking. or now that she was thinking about it, most likely it was gigi. resting a hand on her hip, furrowing her brows at what was being said, “pam macy? she’s really got the decency to show her face around here still?” taking a seat beside the individual, flipping her hair over her shoulder. “shit, what did she say?”

gigi hadn’t been looking for anyone in particular to complain to, but she was extremely relieved to see max. turning to face her, she offered the other one of her telling looks -- she wasn’t clawing and biting angry, but she was almost at shrieking point. “she told me i looked nice. can you believe that?” hands that were gesturing in the air now slapped her thighs in disbelief. “nice! nice considering i’m single? that bitch! girls are so fake, as if i didn’t know she was trying to jump slater’s bones before i even got rid of that airhead.”

rolling her eyes as soon as she heard gigi’s voice, rosalie raised a hand up to rub her temple, in an attempt to stop the headache that would come on but just being in the girls presence. “actually!” she responded as soon as the other stopped talking, “i wasn’t going to ask. and, believe it or not, you probably deserved whatever she said to you.” a faux sweet tugged at her lips, as she glanced up from the magazine she was reading to lock eyes with the other.

any hope of an emotional recovery from her mall encounter vanished once gigi’s eyes found rosalie. she was just about to turn around and march back out of the room when the opportunity to dish out a wicked burn presented itself. “you would side with pam macy... you’re the same breed!” gigi folded her arms over her chest with a pleased smile, temporarily feeling better. “actually, didn’t you two tag-team and give half the student body mono that one time?”
