Magnus sighed. He hadn’t even been in this place for a day before he decided that he hated it. No one took the High Warlock of Brooklyn from his home and forcefully put him into another world.. Unless you counted the time that a Shadowhunter got him drunk and imprisoned him in hell..
He supposed that he should learn more about the place– It would probably be more to his advantage later on.. He wasn’t paying much attention as he briskly made his way through the forest that he had been dropped in.
He bumped into the other and he stumbled back, feeling embarrassed. Had he just bumped into a tree..? Thank god that there was no one around to see that. He brushed his shirt up and looked ahead, gasping softly at the ‘tree’. Lucky him. He had bumped into someone else. Hopefully they weren’t mad.
“Sorry, I wasn’t looking where I was going..”
“It’s fine.”
Greed grinned at the person who’d run into him, not bothered in the slightest. If nothing else, he could always pick their pockets, see if they had anything of value. There was no telling if their money was any good, but that didn’t bother him overmuch.
He wasn’t quite sure what had drawn him down to the forested area he was in now, but Greed definitely wasn’t going to complain, especially given his newfound company. They were a definite looker, and Greed was always ready to flirt with lookers.
“You look a bit new. You lost or something, doll?”

You were so sure that the honking sound in the distance was Gamzee, but the father in it takes you the more you realize following its siren call was a mistake. You’re no closer to finding your friends than you were when you started and now you’re lost. Yet the melody still invites you to traverse along the stems of light, lulling you into a sleepy state of unawareness as you make your way to the city. Dreary and light headed from smoke and the smell of soporifics, you lean against one of the light stems. Your sickle is loose in your grip as you nod off for just a second. A footstep brings you back to the waking world and you notice a figure in front of you. Giving a sharp sweep to the left you poise your weapon for a deadly blow, but noting the humanoid shape of the neck you falter.
IF I WERE YOU I WOULD START TALKING RIGHT ABOUT NOW. I’M GOING TO NEED ONE GOOD REASON WHY I SHOULDN’T JUST GO AHEAD AND IMPALE YOU ON THIS THING. AND YOU HAD BETTER MAKE IT GOOD BECAUSE IN ALL HONESTY? YOU POPPING UP OUT OF NOWHERE DOESN’T LEAVE ME FEELING PARTICULARLY SWEET.
The whisper of air on metal catches your attention far quicker than the patter of feet on stone, and you turn. You’re calling on your shield instinctively, before realizing it won’t come. With no shield and no claws, you have no way to fight, other than brute strength, and that makes this a bad bet. You’ve never liked the odds being too high against you.
Letting your hand drop, you smile easily; nonchalant friendliness has always come easy to you. Whether it’s natural or a gift from Father, you don’t know. Maybe you don’t want to.
The sight that greets you is strange. A small creature, grey-skinned and horned stands before you, all glares and fury. You’ll be honest, you’ve never seen anything like this before. Confusion is plain on your face, and your smile falls. This is just gonna be one of those days, isn’t it?
“Okay, first of all, I haven’t got any idea what you’re talking about, and second of all, I’ve been standing here for a while, you’re the one who popped up out of nowhere, buddy. And why are you yelling?”

It doesn’t take long for Mary to leave her given housing to explore. Whether she’s still in the Cursed Gallery or not is a mystery to her. She tries to think of how what happened then could lead to now, but the flames hiss and she wills herself to stop remembering.
It scares her, and makes her angry, and sad. It’s an overload of feelings that she doesn’t know how to grasp. She doesn’t even have the palette knife. She can’t even shove that knife through anything to try and shove her feelings out of her because she doesn’t have it.
This is all a bit much for a little girl. Even a painted one.
She runs in an attempt to run away from her feelings and finds herself in the dark. It wasn’t dark before. And there were fields of grass and lit concrete before. But now it’s all tall buildings and dim streetlamps.
Mary tries hard to listen to the soft tune underlying the city.
Greed had been walking the streets, trying to get an understanding of the city he was trapped in. Years in Dublith had left him with an itching need to know every brick and stone of any place he went, a thoughtless desire for perfect understanding that was difficult to acquire, and harder to keep.
It had been what he assumed was a long time when he got the sense that there was someone else near. Slipping into the shadows that clung to almost every outside wall in this area of the city, Greed waited to see what unfortunate soul had gotten trapped here. He was surprised to find it was a little girl.
The homunculus knew better than to trust someone just because they looked like a child; Pride had taught him that well enough, the little bastard. Still, she looked so lost he couldn’t help but think maybe he could help her out. Stepping slowly out of the shadows, he shoved his hands in his pockets. “Hey, kid. It’s not safe out here this late.”

IT HAD only been a week in this place, and already it was more overwhelming than Zexion could have ever thought. He didn’t know anyone here, didn’t have any interest in making friends, and was still struck with a sense of bewilderment over how it had even happened. All he could remember was the schism in the Organization, the power struggles, and then a sense of it all fading away.
WALKING HELPED. Exploring this new place was helping him clear his head and feel more in control of the situation. The more he knew, the less powerless he felt. Though he remained alone in his walks, preferring to avoid the strange populace. He had never been any good at creating connections, especially with those he had absolutely no information on.
THE UNEXPECTED arrival of another surprised him, jolting Zexion out of his thoughts to look up at the stranger. He spied an apple in one hand and a smirk on their face. He raised an eyebrow skeptically, lips pressing together before opening to speak.
“I AM not lonely,” he replied in a soft tone, posture reflecting the tension he felt at someone sneaking up on him unannounced. “Thank you.”
Greed ignored the rebuff to his first statement. If the other didn’t want to flirt back, that was their business. Tossing the apple up in the air, he caught it and offered it to the shorter person.
“Apple for your secrets? Of your hair, I mean. Never seen that color before.”
Was he so shallow that his main concern about this new person was an unknown hair dye? Yes, yes he was. Greed matched strides with the person, which was a slower pace than he usually kept. The apple was still dangling from his hand, a careful grip the only thing keeping it from falling to the ground.
“I’m not lucky enough that I could get your name, am I?”

“Oh!” His face lit up in immediate understanding, taking the man’s words at face value. perhaps someone else might have found his behavior a little too strange to believe him but, Ishigaki had no reason to.
“Hhmm, it is a good suggestion! There’s lots of places around here that have low fences and walls….you can see past them outside.”
He tilts his head in thought, eyes cast up, attempting to reclaim a memory.
“Maybe we can find a ladder….?” His words are drawn out and airy as he thought, and hoped there was a ladder rattling around in his head, but no such luck.
“Oh!” This was also a sound of realization, but of something different. He approached Greed and put a hand out to him.
“Please accept my apologies for my rude behavior. I shouldn’t be talking about us working together until I’ve properly introduced myself. I’m Ishigaki Koutarou, it’s nice to meet you.”
The homunculus listened as his new acquaintance rambled on, quietly assessing the person he assumed to be human. Their appearance was of interest to him; he’d never seen someone dressed quite like they were. Odd.
Their intrusion into his space drew him sharply from his reverie, and only long years of dealing with people kept him from bristling. He was being offered a hand, it seemed. Taking the kid’s hand in his own, he shook it gently.
“Nice to meetcha. I’m...”
He paused, lost for a name he could use. In the Devil’s Nest, they all called him ‘Boss’, or pet names. Greed couldn’t use those here. Not for this kid, not for someone not his. But he also couldn’t use his real name. It made him feel unsafe.
“Eh, my name’s not important. You can call me Crim.”

He’d been watching this guy for some time now, long enough to notice the seemingly-permanent surly expression. Greed edged up beside the stranger, a deftly acquired apple in hand.
“Hey, there. Saw you walking by yourself and couldn’t help but wonder if maybe you were a little lonely?” Greed wasn’t yet quite sure what he’d do if rebuffed, but he was always a quick-thinker. He’d figure something out, surely.
“By the way, great hair.”

Ishigaki knew it wasn’t polite to stare, but he ended up doing so, lost in his own mind trying to come up with reasons as to why the man before him was trying so desperately to get up the wall.
Was he an acrobat? Was it training? It didn’t seem logical to think he was trying to find a quicker route to somewhere; if that was the case, he would have stopped trying to climb and have gone around by now.
Finally he felt awkward, and called out, “Um, sir! Do you….need some help?”
Greed whirled around, the hand at his side instinctively clawing, though no shield crawled up his skin. When he saw the teenager, he relaxed. No threat there- not yet, anyway.
All smiles now, the homunculus shook his head. “Nah, I’m just...ah, it’s nothing. I’m just messing around. Trying to see if I can get out of here.” He gestured at the city around them. “Can’t go out on foot, so I thought maybe up?”
The green-haired male had been around here for only a small amount of time, and it was already annoying him. Why was he here anyway? What was he doing here? Whatever it was, it couldn’t have been all that important. The male was bored out his brains and nothing important had happened to him yet. When the other had spoken to him however, Dragul looked down at the other, already thinking h was a lower class than himself. Damn commoners and their ways of speaking!
“Of course I am alright, I am more than capable of looking after myself.” He paused for a moment before continuing. “What does a simple commoner want with me, anyway?”
“Hey now, kiddo, I didn’t say nothing about-....what do you mean, commoner?” Greed had been all ready to play consoling adult (he was more than old enough, after all), and then the kid just had to open his mouth again.
Breathing slowly, Greed smiled wide. “Now, kid, didn’t anyone ever tell you to be polite? You never know who you’re talking to. In this case, I am not a commoner. ‘Bout as far from common as it gets, and I don’t like bein’ talked down to. Get it?”

Out of all the homunculi, Greed was usually the easiest-going; nary a frown, or a wrinkle in his forehead. But today was just not his day, it seemed. It wasn’t like waking up wherever the fuck he was wasn’t bad enough- oh no, it was much worse.
His damn shield was broken. He couldn’t so much as cover his nails, and climb a simple brick wall; something that usually came as easily as breathing.
Cursing, Greed kicked the wall he’d been trying to scramble up for the past ten minutes, and huffed under his breath. “Stupid goddamn useless...”
Well, damn if Greed wasn’t looking at the scowliest kid he’d ever seen. Kid looked like they’d watched someone kick their mom or something. Well, Greed was nothing if not curious.
Sauntering over in the unknown child’s direction, he peered over their head. No, nothing funny on the ground. Huh. Shoving his hands in his pockets, he stepped back a pace or two. No need to crowd the kid.
“You all right there, kiddo?”
Throughout his long life, Greed had come to accept some things about himself. After all, he was what he was, and there was no changing that. That being said, what he was was a flirt, sometimes. There wasn’t any substance to it; what homunculus would bind themselves to a human? To anyone at all?
All smiles, the homunculus edged up closer to the rather handsome person he’d spotted. “You don’t look like a happy camper, buddy.”
Well, this was all new. Usually, Greed liked new. He lived for it. New experiences, new things or people to play with. This...not so much. For the first time in years, Greed was alone, and he was not happy about it.
Before he could get too deeply into a sulk, the homunculus caught sight of a rather lovely person out of the corner of his eye. Slipping easily into his usual demeanor, he stopped messing with the can he’d been idly kicking.
“Well, hey there, doll. What’s a pretty thing like you doin’ in an awful place like this?”
Hey! Just to get good and active here, this is a capped starter call. I'm capping it at three (3), but I'll probably be making another one soon-ish.
