Do you ever notice how certain types of people will only talk about their contradicting thoughts on a character’s gender once someone suggests that they’re transfem.

the scene where flowery offers ralsei a blue and pink drink voucher and calls her a princess is also the same scene where she prays for the prophecy to change. and flowery tells them to have faith in themself

like. if you think about it, if ralsei transitions, she would be breaking the prophecy just by virtue of no longer being a prince. it could instill the idea that the prophecy isnt as set in stone as it really seems, that it's subject to change. flowery is literally hinting at a possible way to change the prophecy here. ralsei already has everything they need to do it, her own damn self.

Before the chapter they were saying "it's not really a 'theory' to say Ralsei is transfem it's just a headcanon", claiming there wasn't enough evidence from those who were proposing the theory when there very much was, they just did not want to look at a transfem reading (notably a lot of these people also wouldn't be aware of or be dismissive of the game's much clearer subtext on transfem kris).

Now that it's becoming more obvious, they're going towards "all headcanons are valid" - again dismissing something that is being told by the text of game as simply a headcanon when it's a straightforward reading. This isn't a matter of different interpretations of your "toys", this is the exact same as people who refuse to use they/them pronouns for Kris and say "you can interpret their gender however you want".

And with how nascent some of the changes with Ralsei are, I could understand not catching onto it from a casual player who isn't even in fandom and doesn't even read the stats and whatnot. But if you're gonna be this involved and speak with any kind of platform on what "interpretations" are valid or not, you're way past that point. How are some people genuinely saying that Ralsei forces themself to be a princess in the climbing minigame scene.

Like, this is the most baffling take you could have; how is it possible to read this as anything but Ralsei saying: "Hey, I want to experiment with my identity a bit (Oh right I am not supposed to want things), only if that's okay with you though."

If the scene ended with this line:

I could probably see how you could come to the conclusion that this is Ralsei forcing themself into the role of "princess"; but the way that Ralsei is so excited about the idea of being a princess (even doing a little spin) if you say yes, and the thing Ralsei says in the dialogue if you say no:

Combined with Ralsei looking kind of bummed about it, I really can't see any explanation other than that Ralsei has some gender stuff going on.

Also, the idea that Ralsei just forces themself into a feminine role to please others comes pretty close to transphobic ideas of why people transition.

Contrast it to Ralseis Room, most people are able to agree that she is depriving herself of a proper place of rest because she believes she doesn't deserve it, and only when her friends gift her Furniture does she accept that she might deserve a Room.

The Princess scene is almost the same, every time she does something for herself, she rationalizes it as being for someone else.

Shes like the Friend who loves socializing but will never do it by themselves and needs to be dragged out of their Room to have a good time.
