Maybe it wasnât the brightest idea in the world, definitely not the best sheâs had in a while, but though she had never been one to bend easily to anyoneâs request, Peter had slowly threaded himself into her weaknesses. Sybil hate to admit it. She hated the fact that he had somehow found a way to her heart and that she had let him break it. It wasnât him she blamed for the pain but herself. After their random meeting at the bar, though, she genuinely didnât think sheâd hear from him again, not for a while at least, and she would be lying if she said she wasnât relieved when she received his text. Granted, she had taken twice as long as she wouldâve to replied, but it had been a deliberate choice. Ultimately, she agreed to dinner. She agreed to see him again.
The restaurant was nice, busy but not overwhelming. Upon offering her name to the host the woman led her to a table reserved for two. Sybil had arrived a couple of minutes earlier, more to have a moment to collect herself than anything else. The lights were dimmed but each table had its own lamp, a bouquet of flowers, tablecloth napkins and porcelain plates. She took it in, as if focusing on these little details would help get through this evening without further affecting whatever relationship she had left with Peter, if any at all by now. Above it all, she wanted to hear him, to hear what he had to say, and she wanted to make sure he was okay despite her tough act. It was a few minutes later that she noticed him approaching from the corner of her eye, looking up through her lashes as she offered him a soft smile. âYou look like you decided to shower today, finally.â The blonde teased softly, swallowing quietly after speaking, hoping this evening would go better than the one at the bar.
