highly recommend everyone watch the new “A League of Their Own” series

I laughed, I cried, I cheered, I yearned, I cried a bit more

every character was unique and poignant and still so relevant despite being from a different time. my heart was in my throat as these women finally discovered who they really were, all with each other’s help. I liked how it didn’t shy away from the horrors of the time when it came to racism, sexism, homophobia, etc, but also let the characters imagine and hope for and build a better world for themselves and those they love

they kept the spirit of the original movie (which I adore), but made it deeper and richer and brought in new perspectives that I think made it better

also it’s very queer. like even queerer than I thought it was going to be, which was pretty queer (and not just a gay romance, but also looking at gender and what it means for the characters and just the broader queer culture of the time)

I haven’t felt this attached to a queer show in so long. it is such a beautifully written and executed show. the amount of times I rewinded certain moments to watch it again, i’ve actually laughed out loud, not just puffing air out of my nose and thinking that was funny. It is so beautiful and just, the representation. Women, just being so unabashedly themselves while struggling with the hardships of being woman, queer, black and wanting to play a mans sport in 1950’s america. Just, do yourselves a favor and watch it
