DIY Dream Sphere

So I recently started reading Somniphobia. As a Moon simp, I was very excited to see more of my boi, and it didn’t disappoint, but it sure went in a direction I didn’t expect.

And now I’m kind of obsessed with the concept of the Dream Sphere. I freaking love anything to do with lucid dreaming, inducing dreams, Dreams vs Reality, etc.

But since I know we’re very likely not going to get official merch for this book, I’m taking it upon myself to make my own Dream Sphere. Specifically, a snowglobe with a light-up base and some moon-and-star glitter. It’s the closest I’m gonna get to replicating the real thing.

Testing the LED base with a small crystal sculpture:

My first design attempt is definitely not going to fit through the opening, so I’ll have to tweak his pose a little. But this still amuses me

I’ll regularly update this with my progress, since it’s going to take me a hot minute to actually make Moony. I figure I can upload my design to Vograce and get an acrylic standee.

Took me a couple attempts with mock-ups to figure out the right proportions & make sure he fits in the globe, but I think I’m good to go ahead and design him now 👍

Moony design is finished!

And of course, I had to convert it to CMYK. I hate how muted the colors always look in this mode, but I did my best to make sure they still stand out.

I’ve uploaded the design to Vograce and ordered a batch of acrylic standees, let’s hope they turn out well!!

Moon standees FINALLY arrived, and I’m so freakin happy with how they turned out. He fits perfectly inside the globe.

He was supposed to be double-sided so that his nose/crescent still faced the right direction on the back, but I’m so happy with the quality that I don’t really mind.

My main concern was whether or not he would show up well enough in the dark because the colors are pretty opaque. And he does!! His stars and eyes practically glow in the right color hues.
