i rly like how many electronic devices you can turn off by holding the power button down. its very intuitive to kill a thing by choking it
And……
They can't kill me,I will fight!I will fight!……Sorry,what did I just say?
In short, I am idkwhatname222, and this is my new blog.
A fact about Jonestown today, for those who may not know: Did you know that they used to make toys?
Here are some of the stuffed animals they made on sale! Lovingly crafted by the congregation, these were called “Marcie Toys”, named after Marceline herself, and were sold to raise money for Jonestown’s creation. They were also given to children around Jonestown. Here’s an example of one, a bootlegged Mickey Mouse (credit to BombsOverDadBags3000 on Reddit for the incredible find! You can also see Mickey to the far left of the first photo)
And here’s a tag that was placed on these toys:
Here are some more pictures of the congregation, hard at work. No matter what happened in Jonestown, the pride and joy the people have in these photos are infectious. It was called Peoples Temple for a reason - Jim may have lead it, but the people were the heart and soul behind it.
(Credit to the Jonestown Institute for the incredible photos!)
look how cute jim is with mr muggs here....!!!!!!
I came across this video and thought it was really rare, so I wanted to share it with you all.
THE FUCK YOU MEAN YOU LEFT THE PERC AT JONESTOWN?
I found two Jim drawings I did around mid last year.
I drew lots of comics in 2013 and they were all of this caliber of basically complete bullshit about whatever I had just watched I had just watched Jonestown and found out jim jones sold monkeys door to door
Inktober Day 1 - Poison! (2018)
Okay, so this is what I was trying to say.
On the one hand, Jim clearly lacked maternal affection during his childhood, and he seemed to strongly seek his mother’s approval, while also feeling suppressed and diminished in her presence. On the other hand, I vaguely remember reading somewhere—though I’m honestly still afraid my memory might be wrong—that Lynetta deeply resented Jim’s father because of what she saw as his incompetence. As a result, Jim appeared to align himself with his mother in that resentment and came to despise his father as well.
Because of this, I think Jim may have tried to bring himself closer to his mother’s way of thinking in order to gain her respect and approval. This could also explain why some of his psychological and personality issues seem to mirror hers.
And notably—whether it was mentioned in Raven or RTJ (I honestly can’t recall which)—there is a passage describing how Jim felt deeply embarrassed and uneasy about Lynetta coming to Redwood Valley. It’s very clear that he didn’t expect her to approve of him. In front of his mother, he seemed to feel inferior, vulnerable, and fundamentally unrecognized, and this appeared to cause him a great deal of anxiety—particularly around the need for approval.
Perhaps this is also part of why he was so driven to achieve things and so desperately craved praise and adoration. And in fact, when she was in Redwood Valley, she really didn’t approve of him.
All of this is just to say that Jim Jones may very well have had some latent form of momism. I’ve even wondered whether he might have been drawn to partners who could pull him back into a similarly unequal, mother–son power dynamic. But obviously, this is purely a fan interpretation.
Judging from his actual choice of partners, he seems far more interested in women he could exert control over. And honestly—looking at the appearances of Carolyn Layton and Maria Katsaris—I can’t help but suspect that a strong element of narcissism may have been embedded in his later partner preferences as well.
Of course, all of this is purely speculation and associative thinking on my part, without any real evidentiary weight—just an interpretation from a fandom perspective.
