Feeling a little miffed about a situation a while back sooo shout-out post for Disability Pride Month
Shout-out to fictives of characters from webcomics!
Shout-out to fictives of characters from webshows!
Shout-out to fictives of their friend's original characters!
Shout-out to fictives of a fanfiction OC!
Shout-out to fictives of original characters that aren't from big shows and such, from Tumblr comics, from small YouTube shows, from fanfictions made by someone who replies to every comment.
You deserve to exist, there's nothing wrong with your existence, you are not plagiarizing anything and nobody has a right to tell you to hide your existence.
And to creators, shout-out to those that are respectful about fictives of their work, shout-out to those that are neutral, those that are honored, shout-out to those that make space for fictives in their community.
Happy Disability Pride Month, fictives.
I can't hear headmates :( sad :(
But also I've realized how useless I am at English specifically without the local English nerd I was struggling to think of a word and resorted to looking it up because I couldn't ask her
Feeling sick with the need to be a ghost again 👍
I'm trying to brainstorm names for a mermaid that picked their own name and likes to explore ruins, any ideas?
I can tell when Aloe is near front because I abruptly get the urge to write an entire essay on a thought I had for fun.
Blurrrrrrrrrrrry
If you're writing anything involving cons, scams, heists, or morally questionable characters who are very good at lying, here are some free resources I've been using for research. Saving you the "why is this in my search history" anxiety.
1. The FBI's Famous Cases & Criminals archive (fbi.gov/history/famous-cases) has detailed breakdowns of real fraud cases, Ponzi schemes, and confidence operations. The language they use is clinical and precise, which is perfect for getting the procedural details right.
2. The FTC Consumer Sentinel Network publishes annual reports on the most common fraud tactics in the US. Great for understanding how modern scams actually work and what makes people fall for them.
3. The Smithsonian's American Art Museum has a free digital collection of forgery case studies. If your character forges documents or art, this is gold.
4. Court Listener (courtlistener.com) is a free legal database where you can read actual court transcripts from fraud trials. Want to know how a real con artist talks under oath? This is where you find out.
5. The Internet Archive's collection of old newspaper crime sections. Search for "confidence man" or "swindle" in papers from the 1920s through 1960s and you'll find incredible real stories that would feel too dramatic for fiction.
Bonus: The Psychology of Fraud section on the Association for Psychological Science website has accessible articles about why people trust, how deception works cognitively, and what makes someone a convincing liar. Essential reading if you want your con artist characters to feel psychologically real.
Reblog to save for later. Your WIP will thank you.
I am...not good at interacting with people. And I am interacting with one right now. And I think I am doing okay.
It's...really hard though.
