It DOES amuse me that Frederick “Flips” Richard gets a segment on NBC all about how he wants to use the power of social media to popularize men’s gymnastics, has an amazing night, is handsome, is well spoken, has his owned branded clothing for crying out loud, only for THIS GUY to become an overnight sensation:

The internet just wants what it wants, and it’s a weird little sports story. And this niche athlete with a rare eye condition and Rubik’s cube hobby with ONE JOB and one job only - it’s what we WANT.

(It’s all love, Fred is going to do great and be a superstar but yes the immediate juxtaposition between “I am going to be an influencer for the sport” to waking up to Stephen as the internets new favorite little guy was great)
