Shrine of yesterday
syaudrey:
@syxjiyongâ
This was more difficult than she thought.Â
Pacing back and forth outside of the ship, she was dressed in traditional garb for the festival but more than that was the necklace she donned. Fit loosely on her neck, hidden underneath her clothes, hanging low enough not to be seen beside the intricate gold chain around her neck that rubbed her skin raw from the movement that came with the heavy ornate at the end.Â
It was just another festival to the crew but to her, it was the first one she had properly celebrated without her family and the last one she would see on Sihnon with her own eyes. She ought to see the graves of her mother and brothers, give her greetings and clean it up as she routinely did before. She had to resolved this before they even landed; however, she couldnât find the courage to walk the grounds where her she once trekked as a child. Changed to an enemy of the alliance, she wasnât sure how to face her mother as she was now. A failure of a daughter, and a rebellious ex-companion.Â
It was than she noticed Jiyong about to walk out of the main entrance and her hand reached out to her, hoping that her heart did the same. âWill you accompany me somewhere? I need to borrow your bravery.â
the dress she wore fit her perfectly and after all, red was such a suitable color for jiyong. it wasnât her favorite, but she always looked good in red. so fierce. that was why she had decided to wear a long, red dress. but she did not plan to spend most of her free time with the rest of the crew. in fact, she hoped to avoid them. but of course, life like always had different plans. life or her annoying crew members. she almost walked away, she wanted to act like she didnât even hear her question. but the need in her heart to help was stronger than her arrogance. with a mischievous smile, she approached the girl and said,ââ well, well. youâre looking ravishingly interesting, audrey. but your words are even more interesting.ââÂ
ââso, you want me to be your private bodyguard? well, why not? i have nothing better. plus, helping you doesnât seem like such a bad thing.ââ for a person who didnât smile very often, jiyong seemed pretty optimistic.ââ i think you are brave, too. you just donât allow it to shine.ââ it was a moment of sincerity and she was well aware of the fact that she now liked audrey. even respected her.ââ but letâs go, miss audrey. i donât have all day for pointless chatter. just tell me where you want to go. and should i bring anything? oh it doesnât matter, i always carry weapons with me.ââÂ

@syxjiyong
It was one of those uncommon days where Elliot could wake up because he had actually fallen asleep. Some rest sans the tossing and turning or waking up to an itch or a bother, though imperfect was enough for him. The former mudder was still getting used to having a lone room. As daunting as it was to feel himself â Solely himself and no one else, he could finally comprehend that this remained the reality of the crew that surrounded him, and his respect for them grew fondly. One in particular came to mind that day, and he decided that the lemon tarts Audrey hadnât yet devoured were designated for them; a mercenary with platinum hair and legs that seemed to defy her height. Her name, even, struck him with delight and he couldnât quite pin the reason.
Jiyong had mentioned before that she had a preference for lemon-cakes, but Elliot had no luck in attaining them. Their rest at Sihnon did however facilitate what he could find. âJiyong!â He came shouting; sprinting from the dining hall to the brigs, where finally the mercenary stood. The woman didnât strike him as the family-oriented type, but she also seemed the type to prove you wrong. In his loud approach, he stops and takes a breather. âHey! Sorry, give me a secâŠâ He pants as he rests with his hands propped against his knees. âI got you these tarts. I put a twist on âem and I think you might like it. Just some extra cream I whipped up earlier.â He says with an earnest smile as he stood and handed her the bag they were hanging from.
getting attached to people and making friends had always been a problem for jiyong, but for quite a few interesting and maybe even sad reasons. the stone walls around her heart never tumbled down. there were there to protect her from any harm and she was afraid of letting people see the gentler side of her, mainly because she didnât wish to suffer anymore. but no matter how hard she had tried, she became fond of almost all the crew members, which terrified her to a certain degree. in that group was of course elliot and she actually admired him a little. she surely wasnât the friendliest person on the ship, but it seemed like he didnât care about her behavior and that gave her a little hope.Â
hearing him shout her name made her chuckle. but when he finally approached her, jiyong kept her face stoic, hiding any sort of emotions.ââ you know that you donât have to shout my name. my senses are very sharp. and that wasnât a second. technically, it was ten second and forty-seven thousand milliseconds. come on, youâre not that old. i think you should exercise. a lot. ââ but his little gift or whatever it was truly managed to surprise her. she wasnât expecting anything, especially not her favorite type of sweets. she remained speechless for a few minutes, carefully observing the bag with lemon cakes. kindness - she definitely wasnât used to it and it felt so strange. almost painful. but also nice.ââwha..what? you? what? why? what do you want in return?ââ none of it made sense to her. people had never been kind to her and even when they were, they always wanted something. so, in those moments, she only stood silently, with her eyes focused on his face. she wanted to know and at least she was brave enough to ask for an explanation.Â
âi challenge youâ
syjaewon:
@syxjiyong
itâs been hours since jaewon could see straight, heâs not sure what time it is or in which part of sirius heâs managed to fall into, which corner of this labyrinthine maze of a city he has gotten caught up into, the alleyways of this place like a spiderâs web, and heâs never considered himself a fly, but then again, heâs never let himself become this undone before. and he blames kafka and neo entirely for it; one for the over-bounding stress, and the other for the offered relief in the form of drugs and alcohol. jaewon doesnât usually allow himself these sorts of liberties, and thereâs a reason why, a very good reason why; heâs a captain, he has to be on top of things, in charge, in control, ready at a momentâs notice for anything to go wrong. itâs his job but itâs also who he is.
but tonight heâs carelessly thrown such grievances to the winds apparently, heâs broken sacred oaths to himself, more than just one, and the confusion and frustration boiling in his system had to be reconciledâ it just had to. so here he is in the middle of a spill-out from a nearby club, the music and people flooding all around him, everything in a haze of noise and colors and nauseating spinning while he stands still amidst it all, his eyes shut, his hands on his temples, and for a moment he thinks he might vomit. this is the worst, heâs never doing this again.
when he opens his eyes though, he thinks heâs hallucinating. âjiyong?â
jiyong has never been a fan of staying sober and in most scenarios she loved searching for answers at the bottoms of many bottles, but during the sihnonâs special celebration she decided to stay away from any sort of temptations. after all, seeing your friends or crew members drunk was much better than being actually drunk. at least she could enjoy in all of their foolish acts. it was a refreshing change for her and something good actually came with it. for starters, her dress and headpiece remained perfectly intact, which was something quite unusual for jiyong. almost like she had achieve something great. but in such a big crowd, she didnât expect to see jaewon and definitely not in such a weird state.Â
ââcaptain yang,ââshe bowed her head for one short moment and it was a brief sign of respect mixed with sarcasm. at least he wouldnât remember it. ââof course, who else would it be? are you all right? with all due respect captain, you look like youâve seen a ghost.ââ she refrained from laughing and instead she decided to focus on something else. music was all around them, entrancing and upbeat, and out of nowhere a brilliant idea formed in her mind.ââcaptain yang, isnât this music wonderful? itâs like a cure for all our troubles. donât you just get the urge to dance? and move your body? oh but do you know how to dance?ââ
.rocket lantern
syxnine:
Perhaps it would be a weird sight to see a man digging the ground under a moonlit night. Yet, Nine was doing exactly that, exposing a shallowly buried box under the ground. Opening the box revealed a pair of rocket propelled grenades.Â
They were part of an elaborate setup of weapons hidden close to the main streets of Sihnon, especially the main escape route from the festival back to the Serenity. After all, many forbade Nine from bringing much larger weapons, hence he left the ship earlier to hide them all.Â
Nine had learned that the quicker his lantern rose, there was a much better chance of it coming true. Maybe some kind of spectral space god might read his wish first. While the flames within the lantern would prove a fuel efficient method of lift, it did little for speed.
Attaching the rpg onto the lantern should help compensate for speed, Nine surmised. He paused, a knee on the ground, just before removing one of the explosive weapon. âShould you not be enjoying the festival?â Nine tilted his head, blinking at the approaching female.Â
@syxjiyong
she was prone to snooping, it was something truly stronger than her - almost like some primeval urge mixed with a thirst for vast knowledge. for her strange condition there was no cure, but she didnât mind that at all. she was actual proud of herself and jiyongâs weird curiosity was probably her best quality.Â
but she really had no intentions of stumbling upon nine. it was a mere coincidence, nothing more. nothing truly special or worthy of discussion. in fact, she had been trying very hard ( almost all night ) to avoid the rest of the crew members of serenity. yet some things or people in life were impossible to avoid. so she gladly moved closer, completely unbothered by his question. she wanted to know what he was actually doing and she had no plans of leaving without a proper explanation.Â
ââi could ask you the very same question, nine. such tricks donât work on me. i thought you already knew that.ââthen she smiled a little, letting her gaze wander around. something seemed undeniably suspicious.ââyou canât fool me. so, you better tell me. i want to know.ââ
ââwhat exactly are you trying to achieve? youâre such an intriguing person, nine. you are an actually person, iâve seen you bleed. so, what are you hiding from me? and why? you know that i wonât judge you. show me. perhaps i could even help you. ââÂ
acta non verba.
syxnine:
Gunfire echoed around him, splinters exploding upwards as bullets ricochet. There was a very slight furrow in his eyebrows, the reason being the stabbing pain every time he swung his right arm around to fire his gun.Â
He rolled backwards behind cover, free hand placing something into his inner coat pocket. The destruction continued all around him, as expensive sculptures crumble under the hail of bullets. When jiyong managed to get the exit open, he grabbed the grenade belt from the dead guard close to him and ran towards her. Pulling out a pin from one of the grenade, he tossed the entire loaded belt off stage before pushing jiyong into the exit and quickly followed behind, closing the trapdoor. A loud explosion then rocked the auditorium.
Hours later, after escaping their pursuers, the pair find themselves watching the fading sunset whilst waiting for a pickup from the serenity. Nine peeled off his coat, the dried blood making the fabric stick. He took a breath, then proceeded to pull off his top. A low growl followed, for the usually stoic Nine, the act had hurt tremendously.Â
âIâm going to get the bullet out.â He informed jiyong, plucking a small blade from his belt. Resting the blade against the wound, Nine hesitated.
everything happened so suddenly, but at least they both managed to stay alive. trust be told, she had been in plenty of dangerous situations, but explosive endings usually werenât the norm. nevertheless, something good came out if it all. she started admiring nine more - for his bravery and well loyalty. she wasnât a person that actually liked working in teams, most of the time she was simply forced to work somebody else. but for a change, she didnât hate working with nine that much.Â
after such a wild day, she only wanted to rest a little and drink. vodka preferably. but of course, she quickly came to the conclusion that her little flask would have to be used for something else. the sunset was pretty, she couldnât deny that, but she had to focus all of her attention on nine. just to stop him from doing something stupid. and potentially dangerous. ââoh dear lord, give me the damn blade.ââ without waiting for his response, she took the blade in her own hands.Â
ââyou shouldnât have done that. you had no reason to help me and i thought you said it was only a flesh wound. but you actually have a bullet in your arm.ââ her discontent made itself evident, but she just pulled out her small flask. ââi'm pretty sure that you donât drink. so, iâm not even going to offer this to you. but at least it will be good for disinfection. you obviously forgot about that.ââ
ââiâve done this a couple of times.ââshe admitted, focusing her eyes on his face.ââ back when i was all alone, i had no one to help me. especially not after a fight. so, i gradually learned a few tricks.ââ she loathed talking about her past for various reasons and she swiftly realized that she had said too much. so in just one short second, she averted her gaze and continued to observe the wound. ââ this will probably hurt. a lot. actually, i donât know. youâll just have to trust me. do you trust me? ââ
danger zone.
red material swirled around her legs almost like an affectionate kitten, but walking in such a fancy dress wasnât entirely impossible. for a change, it was nice to feel poised and elegant. of course, a few pistols and knives were hidden underneath all the soft fabric, but on this particular night she didnât wish to use them. she only brought them with her in case of an emergency. however, old habits always die hard and jiyongâs undeniable thirst for something crazy and dangerous had to be quenched. none of her ideas involved drinking or smoking. for her, those were truly trivial things that she had no desire to waste her time on.Â
she needed something better, brighter, something wild and potentially harmful. having fun without causing any trouble seemed absolutely useless and boring, and somehow jiyong managed to overhear one particularly interesting conversation. two average looking men in bright orange costumes had a small chat about fireworks. by the looks of it, they were in charge of guarding the fireworks from any potential lurkers, but it also seemed like they were far too fond of wine. an opportunity presented itself to jiyong and she gladly took it.Â
so, she decided to share her newly found information with noelle. she needed a partner in crime, after all everything was always more interesting with an accomplice. the other blonde lady definitely seemed like someone who wouldnât judge jiyong for her wild ideas. so she approached her quite casually, linking her arm with noelle. she didnât like touching others very much, but it was all for the sake of looking normal.ââ hey, guess what i just heard? there will be some fireworks later! isnât that interesting? oh i love fireworks so much. but i also donât want to wait for the end of the show. hmm, what should i do? ââa small smirk quickly crossed her lips, and then broadened into a huge grin as she focused her eyes on the girl. ââwhat do you think?ââ

syxnine:
Nine flipped back onto his feet, glancing at his punctured shoulder with mild interest. âGetting the necklace for you.â he responded matter-of-factly. He covered her as she made her way to him, only for him to stare at her emotionlessly as she berated him.
âThere was movement in the upper right box when the necklace came on. Iâve noticed superior guards entering the box. Should the person bid for it, the chances of us retrieving the necklace unharmed drops significantly.â Nine replied. âI apologise if my judgement was incorrect.â He looked to his bleeding shoulder as she continued speaking, replying at a pause. âItâs but a flesh wound.â
His eyes moved to the statue, and quickly snapping back to look behind her. His arm reached out behind her, and he fired at someone aiming at jiyong. âunderstood.â He replied, however he moved in the direction opposite the statue. âHowever, as I do not understand the intricacies of opening the passageway, I would ask that you lead the way as I watch your back.â He then began firing continuously and accurately at their aggressors.Â
âI would appreciate if you perform said deed faster.â He spoke loudly, before rolling forward, barely avoiding a barrage of bullets that rained where he was.
as much as she didnât want to admit it - his nonchalance was starting to annoy her.ââyou basically sound like youâre stating your favorite dessert. you say it like itâs no big deal. i appreciate the sentiment, but you put your life at risk and...ââshe stopped herself from talking, quickly realizing something. she cared about him. enough to actually give a damn about his life and that scared and amazed her at the same time. ââthe odds are always against people like us. those men donât care about anything.ââ
ââiâm not sure if youâre judgement was incorrect, but mathematically speaking there were other options too. options that wouldâve given us different results than this one. but none of that matters now.ââshe moved forward, taking a closer look at his shoulder. yes, it didnât look entirely bad, but seeing him hurt just wasnât an entirely pleasant experience. chuckling, she focused her eyes once again on his face and added,âânow you just sound cocky. youâll have to let me help you once we get out of here.ââÂ
ââitâs not that complicated, but fine. and i donât need anyone to watch my back. i think youâve saved my life enough number of times today.ââ without much hesitation she started marching towards the passageway, the heels of her boots crushing all the broken pieces on the ground and turning them into nothing else but dust. it didnât take her long to reach it and she pushed the statue aside, finding the secret lever in just one second. however, she had a hard time with actually pulling it. it clearly wasnât used recently.Â
then, she tried once more, this time using a simple vector trick and not just brute force. it actually worked. with a sigh of relief, she turned around and called nine,ââcome on, itâs open now. we donât have much time. more of them will come. ââ
time after time.
sylynx:
to hear her talk about paying him back fuels anger through his veins, almost making him lash out due to how vulnerable he feels. he doesnât care about money at all, not when itâs about jiyong, not when he hasnât seen her for so long, not when he has thought heâll never see her again. lynx hadnât cared about getting paid back then either, so much that he canât even remember that detail at all. all he remembers is how she left without a trace, how she didnât leave anything behind yet again. the second encounter hurts more than the first, because whilst the first one might have been their paths pulling them apart, he feels like he deserved an explanation for the second part, something, anything he could hold on to, so that he could believe that she did put some kind of care in him, that he mattered to her. but lynx has nothing, he knows nothing, and it frightens him â- that no matter that lynx knows so little about her, she still manages to mean so much to him.
he grits his teeth, doing his best not to cry as she continues on talking. the girl seems much more composed than he is, so he does his best to look the same, stop himself from giving away too much as he stands there in the corridor. and that fact comes with the realization that perhaps itâs not about getting paid at all â that perhaps jiyong is giving him a way to leave the public eye, so that they can have a conversation in private, not pour their hearts out where everyone can see. so even though it goes through his head slowly, he nods a few times, burying his hands in his pockets so that no one can see that theyâre shaking. âthat sounds good â itâs been a long time. donât leave me waiting any longer.â even though the words are let out in a friendly, light-hearted manner, itâs not difficult to see that they mean much more. lynx can hide only so much when itâs about his childhood friend.
her explanation about being a mercenary makes sense â of course it does, itâs what jiyong has been doing the last time he has seen her, and itâs not hard to guess that itâs not a profession one can change easily. itâs not too different with him either, not really, with the enemies he has left behind, thereâs little chance to go back to being iseul, the kid who was being groomed to be a law-abiding citizen. but they chose their own paths â or he thought they did â- lynx and jiyongâs paths cross so often that it confuses him, for itâs not something he can explain with numbers and codes. he purses his lips, nodding, unsure how he can begin to reply to something like that. âi â iâm here to hack as well. just another job i stumbled upon. the pay was good â-â he hasnât expected to stumble into jiyong again, and the sight of her continues to send his mind to a chaos. he swallows, looking down for a few seconds before continuing. âspeaking of pay â why donât we go to your room to settle the⊠debt.â it feels horrible to put it that way; that they try to pack everything up in a non-fitting metaphor. but they need to go to somewhere private, neither of them can afford to open up right then and there. they have a lot to talk about, and lynx wants to stop feeling so lost â he needs some answers, and before that, he really wants to hug her tight â make sure that itâs her that heâs looking at.
she hated herself for talking so much about such irrelevant things, things that probably only irritated her old friend - but she didnât have a choice. she had always been a selfish creature, she wasnât ready to face her emotions and pour out her heart. he surely deserved an explanation, but was it good enough? she couldnât tell. as much as she wanted to hide it, she truly cared about him and that probably terrified her the most. even after so much time, she still cared and loved him. it was a pure love, forged with care like some ancient sword and no amount of time could tarnish it. but so many things had happened. only fragments remained of the old and smiley jiyong, the girl that he used to know. time did many things to her and most of them werenât very kind. so, itâs no wonder that she did her best to avoid talking about the past.Â
she noticed the tension in the air, but just like the rest of her problems jiyong chose to ignore it. however, the sudden offer for paying actually meant so much more. she desired some privacy, to find a place where no one could see her. ââyouâre a smart guy. i wonât. itâs only fair for me to pay you. after all, you did such a great job.ââ she gave him a small smile, one reserved solely for close friends and family. and he finally realized the point of her offer. it wasnât that hard, was it? however, she had no reason to conceal the details about her job. he was bound to find out, one way or another. there was no point in beating around the bush. of course, it wasnât something that she was entirely proud of, but that was her life. after all, most people werenât happy with their lives and jobs. she wasnât destined to be among the few lucky ones that actually had something to be proud of.Â
ââah, thatâs great. you know that iâve always admired your skills greatly. itâs nice to know that someone else has also noticed your potential.ââ she took a step back while nodding a few times. it was all so surreal, almost like was talking in a dream. ââof course. iâd hate to be the one to leave you waiting. come on.ââ she beckoned him to follow her with a wave of her hand, marching towards her room like a solider on a mission. she only turned her head to look at him once, just to make sure that he was actually behind her. she still couldnât get rid of that weird feeling, of the idea that she was actually hallucinating the whole encounter. her mind usually didnât have a tendency to play tricks on her, but she was still worried. ââweâre here,ââ of course her room was perfectly organized, almost to the point of insanity. but that wasnât probably a big surprise. she always had a tendency to keep things in order, no matter where she was. ââthe money should be here somewhere. ââ
where they come from
syxmina:
This isnât the first time that someone has mentioned conquering a planet to Mina. Â Though it was mostly a joke between her and Jaewon that she could run her own planet by now. Â But sheâs never had that sort of ambition, maybe a town would be more up her alley. Â Or a smaller moon. Â Still, sheâd be lying if she said hadnât thought about that before. And perhaps with someone like Jiyong at her side, it would be possible. Â Sheâs never been afraid to get her hands a little dirty and if she was feeling wild enough Mina might just make the plan official. Â A few years ago, wild-eyed and revenge-hungry she might have.
âJiyong, Iâm fairly certain that anything you wanted you could get without much trouble.â Â Rather that is a good thing or a bad thing, Mina isnât sure. Â Maybe a little bit of both. Â Sometimes she finds herself marveling at the way the other can push and pull to get her way with a perceived ease that is fascinating. Â Mina remembered her days of pretty pearls and satin gloves wellâit had never suited her. Â Nevertheless, she loved donning them back in the day with pretty hats and her hair curled just right. Â If she allowed herself, Mina would spend the rest of the night thinking about those days and grow sadder with each passing moment. Â So she simply stops and directs her attention to Jiyong again, waiting.
Despite herself, Mina bursts into laughter. Â It is short lived but she throws her head back nonetheless for a moment and shakes her head. Â âMaybe so, but heâd also kill me for being late and Iâm not eager to die tonight. Â Still,â she pauses, smacking her lips slightly, âI suppose I can put myself in your hands for now.â Â She trusted Jiyong well enough, or about as much as Mina is capable of trusting at any given moment. Â
she was no stranger to ambition and greed, after all it was a family thing. however, as a child jiyong had never dreamed about wild conquests. on the opposite, all she wanted to do was help others and make her home planet a better place for living. of course, time and fate dashed her dreams and she was only left with anger and sorrow. and as she grew older, her greed and viciousness only became stronger. ââoh well thatâs very nice of you to say... and i guess youâre right. but doing something without causing some trouble isnât fun.ââ chuckling to herself, she let a mischievous smirk spread all over her face. as much as minaâs words were nice, she didnât really agree with the whole thing. but she surely didnât want to talk about it.Â
ââmina, stop it. i know youâre lying and itâs impossible to fool me. i know people and i know the way most of them think. they see themselves as unpredictable and mysterious, but thatâs just a facade. i can say with absolute certainty that jaewon wouldnât kill you. on top of that, iâd be willing to bet my own life on it. youâre not a bad liar, but next time think of a better excuse.ââ jiyong actually prided herself on being observant and her exceptional ability to judge character. her astute skills had helped her survive way too many times to count. ââthatâs all i wanted to hear. trust me, iâll return you to jaewon in one piece.ââ
ââyou know, i have so many things planned for tonight. the first place isnât that far away from her, but then again such places are always near bars. just promise me that you wonât judge me... too much.ââ  with that, she quickened her pace and suddenly ducked into an alleyway. she kept her mouth firmly shut, refusing to reveal any information about the place. but maybe she didnât need to say anything. maybe it was obvious. immediately her spirits lifted at the sight ahead of her. the place on the outside didnât look special, but looks could be deceiving. ââover here,ââ she added and quickly went inside. the lights were dim, barely illuminating the entrance, but she simply followed the sound of music. however, not long after stepping inside, she was approached by a beautiful woman. placing a hand on her shoulder, jiyong came closer and whispered something into her ear. she actually knew the woman, but after a few moments she turned around to mina and said, ââeverythingâs fine tonight. i just ordered us a few drinks.ââ then, she pointed at a thin black door and with a slight grin she added, ââpretty ladies first. come on, mina. you have to go first.ââ
âwhen they told her her story was written in the stars, she went to the heavens and crushed each one with her bare hands, stars have no power over her, the night sky is hers now, and she will carve it with constellations of her own.â

come on and raise your glass
syharper:
the reply to her question comes as a little bit of a surprise at first, eyebrows raising as she silently questions the validity of such a title, but then a chuckle follows just as easily. jaewon is like that, after all. not someone who picks favourites, but the type to make people want to be his. his favourite, his crew member, his subordinate, his anything. so she simply gives a nod of her head to the furthered explanation, accepting gladly that the woman she shared her drink with is another of her own kind. in as far as there are others of her own kind.
her eyes go down to the glass again as well when a question is asked about the nature of the liquor, and harper sighs momentarily - an expression of her own disappointment in the drink sheâs sharing that particular night. âsome uptown ariel brew,â she states, picking up the bottle again with her free hand and passing it to the other mercenary to allow her to check it out. ânot my planetâs finest, but when travelling around this much you take what you can get.â
itâs habit, by now, calling anything to do with ariel her planetâs, a continuation of a long-running, carefully constructed ruse that no one will ever manage to catch even a whiff of. sheâs been taught everything she needs to know to pass for a true ariel-born rich girl, after all. the language, the habits, the history. they even made her learn an entire familyâs personal history by heart because that would become her origin story, of a sorts.
after all these many years going by the name of an ariel born and bred snob, she sometimes wonders if she hasnât just simply become one by now. if there isnât something to be said about the way she fits herself into any situation as if she owns the ground she walks on. she was told to act like this, of course, but what if it has become a part of her now too, what if she can never be who she used to be?
she asks herself this question often, she never quite allows herself to answer it out of fear of what the answer will mean to her.
contrary to popular belief, jiyong always paid a lot of attention to her words. she was a skillful liar, capable of even tricking the devil himself. but there were moments when she just wanted to relax and enjoy in a meaningless conversation without worrying too much about anything. however, she wasn't entirely impressed by the unfamiliar woman. one small act of courtesy meant nothing, not in such a cruel universe. so, it came as a no surprise that she tried to use humor as a way of hiding things.
with a slight smile, she repeated the womanâs words. ââ some uptown ariel brew? if you think that this is a nice drink, then iâm afraid that you donât know a lot about drinks. it almost tastes like water. are you sure that you werenât tricked? ââso, the woman was from ariel. the information was neither interesting nor impressive, so jiyong simply focused all of her attention on the bottle.ââ hmm well i understand that, but i also believe that you shouldnât be satisfied with some mediocre things. or drinks. but i guess we all have the right to think and do what we want.ââ
in one gulp, jiyong drained the glass and clacked her tongue.ââyup, it still tastes like water. i usually like drinks that can basically make me feel like iâm swallowing actual flames. the stronger, the better. thatâs how i prefer my drinks.ââ she should've asked her something, but she just kept talking about the most random things. truth be told, she wasn't even that interested. but then again, she didn't even know her name and she accepted her drink without any problems or complaints. what if it was poisonous? that thought excited her more than anything.
clearing her throat, she asked,ââ so, what brings you hear? i donât often see pretty women sitting all alone in this part of the ship. if it's something boring, then i don't want to know.ââ
