This blog is the headquarters for the Syzygy Podfic Project, a fully-voiced, dramatized audio adaptation of the fic by the same name by @sometimes-love-is-enough.

This is why when I am elected dictator of America, I will be initiating and enforcing a frankly draconian nation-wide dark sky program. You WILL be able to see the Milky Way, and you WILL NOT be able to see anything else. Hospitals get to keep their lights but as for the rest of you if you can't do it in the dark you simply do not need to be doing it.

heyo question. if the syzygy pod does well (whatever that means to u), would u turn any other fics into pods?
this ask implies that I have anything to do with the production and creation of the podfic, which - apart from lending my voice to Virgil - very much do not. that's all down to @dragonsaphirareads, who's doing a franky incredible job with the whole project. i personally would never consider doing any podfics by myself because it's just kinda not my creative thing. i prefer writing to production and/or voice acting. it's neat that it's happening with my fic!!!! it is wonderful that i get to voice a character in it!!! i would never do it of my own accord

A friend sent me the call for the thumbnail artist, and while I hadn't read syzygy, I applied anyways (because it looked cool) and then IMMEDIATELY did a full read through of it over the course of about 5 hours in one sitting. So uh, the "I haven't read but want to" no longer applies?? Anyways, all that to say, I was curious about when submissions close? tyyy :D
I don't have a set date currently! Right now I'm just trying to spread the word to give people enough time to read the fic and decide to apply if they want to! I imagine it'll be open for a few weeks at least, and I'll make sure to give plenty of warning before I close them.

As a voice actor within the Syzygy Podfic Project, can confirm:

The project is a good 90% recorded at this point and editing is slow but steady! If everything goes well, I hope to have at least the first chapter posted this year!

If you've already submitted your audition and you submitted the audio file with multiple takes, it's okay and you don't need to resubmit. Just be sure to read the instructions fully next time.

Pod-together is a fandom fest where writers and podficcers create together—the writer creating text specifically intended for audio, and the podficcer creating the audio. If that sounds fun to you, sign-ups are open until June 14th!
Sign-ups come in two flavors. If you would like the mods to match you with someone with similar fandom interests, sign up for Matchmaker Sign-Ups. If you would like to sign up with a partner, we also have Group Sign-Ups.
Writing is due July 27th, and podfic is due August 24th. The minimum length for pod-together projects is 1000 words or 10 minutes of audio.
This is our 15th year running this challenge, and participants usually have a ton of fun and create amazing stuff, with everything from the typical style of fannish stories to submissions with filk, poetry, found footage/audio drama, sound effects, massive multi-voice collaborations, immersive soundscapes, playable games, and multiple languages.
