In Demon Slayer (and probably other anime, but I'm not sure), if a character has dead eyes, they have no pupils. Now I have a question: when they're at a doctor's exam and a flashlight is shone in their eyes to see if they react to light, what happens?

Do their irises shrink? The doctor thinks, "Just another depressed kid, we can't check if they react to light," and simply writes in the chart, "It's impossible to check." What does the doctor do then? If they can't diagnose the condition? Theoretically, a simple blood test should be sufficient, but what if the patient deteriorates while waiting for the results, which are usually released after a few days?

Dead eyes in real life are simply closed eyes, which is why the pupils are not dimmed. But only Tomioka has this, and if we assume everyone has closed eyes, but with art style, it's not visible. If it could happen with someone like Muichirou or Obanai, and the doctor simply dilates their eyelids, hiding the pupils there, then someone like Zenitsu or Tanjirou wouldn't have closed eyes; it simply doesn't fit their character. Tanjirou has these white glints in his eyes. Do you think they react to light? Would that be weird?

Long yap about context and my au:

I'll label this as oc x canon and shun x reita because my oc, Yuna Nowaru, is a ghost and took over Shun's body. In this arc, Shun sees one ghost, and it's her.

Shun and Yuna decided to do a redemption arc with several characters. They first took Reita, and then they'd tackle Saiko Metori and consider whether Makomo Teruhashi could be redeemed.

The plan with Toritsuka began with convincing him to willingly sell his magazines and tapes. And they succeeded, but Nowaru had to go on a date with him. The money from the magazine and tape sales went towards a costume for Shun, because the spirit didn't want to possess some strange woman.

The three of them (Shun, as a spirit, was hanging around them, dying every time someone said "oh wow" to his body) went to a mall, trying to find a new hobby for Toritsuki and more accessories for Kaido's costume, because they wanted to use him in the Saiko redemption arc.
