"You and me, just you and me." Tom confirmed to Nathan. "I don't believe we've ever done just you and me." Tom had gotten the sweet idea to book them a week stay in Michagan's queer haven— Saugatuck from a couple of the queer elders at the weekly pottery class he'd began attending in the winter. Knox's idea, but he genuinely fell in love with the craft. But the men spoke of their time out in that little beach town in Michigan with such love and reverence that he thought it'd be nice for them to experience that. Given everything Nathan had gone through the previous year, he deserved an unforgettable summer. "So, what do you say? Will you do me the honor of joining me out in Saugatuck?" ( @nathan-rhee )
"He wants me to bring Nathan to dinner," Tom let his sister know. His father, the man who notoriously shipped Tom away for his queer tendencies (to an all boys school) wanted to meet his boyfriend. While things between the two Andwood men still weren't exactly 'I love my gay son'— they were at least at a place where their family could come together for dinner every month and it not be terrible. Awkward, most definitely. But terrible, not so much. "The unlearning your mother has taught that man, she should be canonized. Like, am I ready to be like, hey dad... here's my boyfriend? I am, right." ( @cassandra-maston )
Chuck, ever the entertainer, was already thinking ahead, "Do you think that was enough? I'm thinking next time I have a false panel in the front of my shirt so I can rip it off and have nipple tassels to twirl..." Chuck shimmied his chest, clearly coordinated enough to pull off such a stunt if he really wanted to. Tom was just so cuddly, it was impossible not to want to give him a squish every time he saw him so Chuck pulled him in for a bear hug, lifting his feet off the floor just a little. "You really mean that? Because you know I cherish your feedback, Tommy."
Tom twisted his lips as he pondered on the question that Chuck presented him. "You know, I think it was an appropriate amount of enough for tonight." He laughed as Chuck spoke of nipple tassels to twirl. "I believe that'll surely take you to the top spot." He let him know, before he found himself in one of Chuck's legendary bear hugs. Tom was truly so fortunate to have the chosen family he'd found himself with. "I mean it, Chuck." He nodded, hoping to drive home the point. "And as with most things when you're not around, this place would be awfully boring if you're not around. I think the very livelihood of poetry readings needs you.'
"... and that was my new piece, dedicated to all the people who will never get the chance to gag on my beautiful-" The rest of Chuck's sentence was inaudible to the bar, the mic dead in his hand. Of course the sound girl had cut him off, his luck having been pushed to the limit the entire time he'd been on stage. Not that he cared, he'd already had his fill of the spotlight, attention-charged and buzzing from the freedom his poetry afforded him. As he came off stage, he handed the mic to the next performer and looked around for his people.
Tom had found himself nearly choking on the contents of his cocktail, Nathan quickly rubbing at his back to ease him. Now, he should have expected Chuck to have ended his set with quite the lasting message. He'd known the guy for too long at this point. "That has to be in the top three greatest endings to a reading I've ever seen." He told his boyfriend, standing up to give him his well deserved standing ovation. Even if it might have offended some people, there was no denying Chuck's talent with words. And well... some of the best art was a bit forward. "That was phenomenal, Chuck." He said with a bright smile.
Bilal Hasna as Young Alby Safadi Half Man 1.02
"Yeah, well, thanks for letting me suck you off in front of the salesman to prove my game is real," he said loud enough that an older couple walking by might have heard if the wind was blowing the right way. "Ru Thee Paul? I'm listening... I also have a spare gimp suit for you so don't worry about that." The part about the gimp suit was definitely a joke but he was never going to get tired of keeping Tom guessing.
"You're so welcome, anything for the case. And for a bargain." Tom said with a playful roll of his eyes, shaking his head at Chuck's usual brand of ridiculousness. Years ago, what'd Chuck just said would have left him pink in the face but now he knew that Chuck enjoyed the volley of it all and he was willing to serve it back. "Yeah, apparently it's her new gig. Bunch of friends of mine saw her over at World Pride in DC. Imagine, a whole two hour set curated by the queen of drag.... seriously, we need to make that happen here." Tom said, soon followed by a wink wink-nudge nudge to his best friend. If anyone could pull that off, it was Chuck. "You don't say. Now we just have to get Nate one."
"'Happy Pride', I say to myself as I slide my new vacuum cleaner into the back of my car..." Chuck shook his head to himself, a small wrinkle of distaste in his brow as he considered his trajectory of what most would call personal growth. "I remember when I used to basically wipe June off the calendar... Cocaine's a hell of a drug, and so on... I think we need to go to one of those parties where we throw tomatoes at people in gimp suits and call it art."
"You did get a discount on that new vacuum on account of it being Pride, so there's an upside." Tom said with a shrug of his shoulders, trying to bring a smile back on Chuck's features. "You know, I actually heard of one of those happening tonight. And they have RuPaul dj'ing." He teased, knowing that Chuck surely needed a night out. Hell, he'd also put himself in that camp.
Gemma was more than a little stoned coming out of the sauna at the aquatic center- which meant the temperature shock of hot to warm to freezing once she got outside was really going to fuck her up. If she squinted she could make out her favorite buzzcut just ahead of her and called out to him. "Oh my god, wait," she stopped just a few feet from Walt, then lowered her voice, "Are you cruising?" @t-andwood
Walt turned around as he heard an all too familiar voice asking him if he was cruising. The accusation just brought a grin to his features, as the owner of said familiar voice just knew him too well. "I'm not not cruising." Walt laughed, as he found himself face to face with his better half. "But, no I'm currently cruising. It's literally 30 degrees out here and all the hotties are inside... I'm not opposed to being the first face any new attendees see, though. Means I get first dibs." He said with a nod. "How was the sauna?" He asked with a sly smirk as of course, he'd peeped that his favorite girl and the hunky hunk she was currently seeing snuck off. "You didn't fuck in there, did you?"
He'd almost connected the dots, but fumbled it at the last second when he thought Walt was commending him for coming up with the idea to jump off the diving block. Either way, his dopey grin was infectious as he reached for Walt's hand on his chest. "Come on then," he tugged on his hand as he started off, "race you!" Gone were the days where Vaughn had been trapped in his knee brace and left to hobble behind everyone. Now he was whooping and hollering like the sweet, albeit boneheaded, jock he was as he tore through the party to get to the stairs.
Walt knew Vaughn far too well to know that glazed over look on his features meant that he'd lost him in that back half. But that was a part of the guy's charm. He was as gorgeous as he was aloof. Walt took one last sip of his cocktail before racing after Vaughn towards the diving boards. Of course, the more athletic of the two made it to the ladder first but he'd kept up with him. A result of his far gone lacrosse days. "If you don't mind, I'm pretty sure it says those named Walt go first." He teased as he began to ascend the ladder.
Vaughn was hardly the sharpest tool in the shed and then double it with alcohol added to the mix he didn't quite understand what Walt was joking about to begin with, even if he laughed along with him politely. He covered his face with his hands, pretending to be shy because there was no way any child of Chuck and Two-Bit's was anything but an extrovert. It had taken a minute but he finally got Walt's initial joke, peeking out from behind his hands and huffing as if he were offended. "Come on, it'd be better than bringing a newbie into the circle. It's so boring trying to catch them up on the lore like, hello. Get educated."
"That would certainly be a pro." Walt nodded, as he made mental note of the point Vaughn had made all on his own. That in itself was another point to the pro side. "Look at that, the wheels up there are churning at the thought of this. I'm honestly flattered." He said, patting at Vaughn's chest. He let his hand linger against his chest, something he'd not so humbly brag to Gemma about later. "So are we jumping off of that motherfucker, or what? Gotta make it happen because I'm like a shot or two from not being able to get up there."
"Should we?" Vaughn asked without clarifying what he was asking about, though his smirk made it clear enough that liquid courage was setting in and giving him ideas. Eventually he cocked his head toward the diving platforms. "Top, obviously," he said, already beginning to stand, "no point half assing it in front of everyone."
"You and me? " Walt asked Vaughn with a raise of his eyebrow, pointing between the two of them. "I don't know, it might mess up the group dynamics but I think it'd be a good... oh..." Walt joked, before Vaughn cocked his head over at the diving boards. "See, when you say it like that and you look at me like that, I still think you're talking about us." He laughed, before taking a long sip from the cocktail he'd whipped up which was more alcohol than anything else. "When have we ever half assed?"
