"Nobody can be charming every day-- unless there is some veela ancestry in you that you failed to mention. But I wouldn't love you less."
She did not use the words and confessions lightly. Her love, like any Slytherin or any Black, was one that was heavy and intense and something he would have to carry forever. It was fortunate for the young heiress that the man she had chosen seemed to possess the kind of expertise that her heart required. His incredible kindness, his way with words... if only she could talk like him. He looked like the type of man that made flowers grow.
Like he was made of magic.
She was laughing now, taken by his silliness in the impromptu dance they were goofing around in. More giggles as they tumbled against each other in the tiny flat that they had found. Andromeda had managed to free herself from her family's sometimes uncomfortable dinners and tedious soirees with other pureblood families. She had announced that she was touring Europe -- but never quite clarified with who it was.
A muggleborn boy in muggle London... He was saving up money for the tour because he refused to take Andromeda’s gold no matter how many times she offered it to him.
One day, she knew the truth would come out and deep in her heart, Andromeda knew one thing. That they would not like the choice she had made...
But right now, being with Ted was like floating. He made tingles rise up and down in her arm. He made her heart race. He made her want to fight for him!
“I can’t wait to show you all the places in the world. Dragons and sphynxes and wild nests of magical creatures...”
Could Bella and her fiancé, claim the same sort of connection? Very unlikely.
Of all the laughter he had heard, it was without a doubt that Andromeda’s was his favourite. And he knew it wasn’t something that came to her easily. At least not with her family. Especially not now.
He knew things were tense with the Blacks, given their status and beliefs which never sat well with their middle daughter. Andromeda wasn’t like them--she was different, unique in the best way possible. And if Ted could have just one wish in the world, he would wish for the ability to undertake all the weight she was carrying on her shoulders. All that sadness behind her smile and laughter.
He leaned in for a quick kiss before lifting her and setting her on the countertop of the small apartment. One day, he’d get them somewhere bigger. But there were other things at the moment. The trip... and the ring. Ted was doing his best to save as much as he could, taking on more jobs to perform muggle magic tricks at kids’ birthday parties, just so he could afford his own expenses. The girl had offered her gold, but it didn’t feel right to take them.
“And I’m excited to explore all the new places with you,” Ted replied, looking up at her with a smile, “But you know what I think? I think I’m already in a whole new world just from being with you.”
