It is my hope that readers find something spiritual and wise in my books. Most of that wisdom doesn’t come from me, but from the beauty and magic which inspires me. You are the main character in your story.
This picture book, by T. A. Barron, tells the story of a young girl who climbed Longs Peak (in Rocky Mountain National Park) in honor of her mother.
"High as a Hawk" is based on 8-year-old Harriet Peters's historic 1905 summit of Longs Peak, the highest mountain in Colorado. She must overcome steep slopes, a freezing blizzard, and what her wise trail guide calls "surprises" along the way.

Magic, for me, is the word to describe the indescribable — the mysterious, wondrous, surprising, and powerful qualities we experience but cannot explain. Like the seed that sprouts after a long winter, into a sapling and eventually a majestic tree, magic and nature are closely intertwined — both in my writing and in my life.
