Tittle for a tattle || Jesse & Beth
Though the overpowering, intolerable stench pervaded the ominous dark alley, he walked on in dauntless. Just a look at the gloom wouldâve sent anyone sprinting to opposite direction. There was even a sign that strictly read: Do not enter. But numerous people would ignore the rules, so many lives were taken in the mysterious alley. It was where Jesse took his kills after all, and he made sure the hear says about the alley stayed true, enough so that everyone avoided it. Wouldnât want them being earshot to the screams.Â
A pitch black female silhouette reclined on the brick walls just right next to the entrance to purgatory. He could tell by the way its shoulders held up that it was Beth. She carried a sense of confidents, when she wasnât performing that is. And not so many girls would be so poised in a dark alleyway while Jesse approached.Â
Jesse gave a cool smile, âPatients my dear the night is still young.â He stood before her and reached into his pockets. It jingled slightly as he pulled out his keys. âBefore we go inside,â he said reaching for her cheeks with his free hand, âanswer me this,â he benevolently skim her skin with the back of his hands. âWhat is lifeâs greatest illusion?Â
Opening her eyes Beth was greeted with Jesse's steel grey ones which were mesmerising because of their coldness. She held his gaze for a long moment and then glanced away as he spoke, her eyes flickering over the darkened shadows of the alley. She didn't want this chitchat, she wanted to know what they were going to do with their new toy. Her skin was on fire, writhing and wriggling like it was covered in spiders and she shifted restlessly. She knew this feeling; the itch for the kill. It had been too long since she'd felt the smooth rush of adrenalin as she slid a blade across someone's skin with nothing but their cries of pain surrounding her.
She shivered with delight at the thought and looked back to meet Jesse's gaze which was still staring at her intently, drilling through the flesh and blood of her body like always. That made her shiver too though she wasn't sure it was all pleasure. "What is life's greatest illusion?" She blinked at him and shifted again, dropping her other foot to the ground and stepping closer to him till she could feel his heart beating through his ribcage. She fluttered her eyelashes and gave him that smile which had won over so many hearts, the look which fooled them all into thinking she was something young and sweet and fresh. "Innocence, dear Jesse." She snapped her eyes back to his grey ones and smiled wickedly, trailing a finger down his chest before spinning away and facing the door behind which their victim lay. "That's the greatest illusion of them all."
A 'tittle', really? || Jesse & Beth
Jesse sat atop the old Gothic building in the cool night air like a king. He was perched on a two foot ledge next to a gargantuan statue of a gargoyle. The gargoyle reminded him of himself. Strong, and powerful. The commander of his destiny. The eyes of the statue stared menacingly into the darkness alerting the beast of itâs enemies, and prey. Itâs face was set in an eternal snarl revealing one inch fangs. Itâs powerful arms outstretched, bearing claw like fingers warned any who may be fool enough to fall within itâs grasp of the danger they offered. The beast crouched upon massive legs which seemed anchored to the ledge by talon like feet. However, greatest of all of the gargoyleâs features to him was the wings. The wings depicted god-like ability. The ability to rise above the filth, and stench of the world and display his unparalleled superiority. Yes, Jesse was like this magnificent creature. Jesse was the gargoyle.
In the darkness he was like the gargoyle. Surveyed the people below. Right on the edge of the ledge carefully selecting his prey. He was garbed in all black. A black trench coat draped his tall thin frame. He donned a hood to conceal his features. Black gloves covered his slender hands, and dark sunglasses-perched upon his thin nose-cloaked his cold eyes. He watched as the evening crowd shuffled in and out of the many night spots that lined 7th Avenue. The scene disgusted him. Fools, he thought. Blindly stumbling through their pitiful lives. They were like so many herds of cattle. Fattening themselves on the pleasures of this world. They had no idea where they were going. Neither had they any idea how to get there. Soon though, they would know him. They would know that he was out there, and that he was watching. He was watching all of them. A sinister smile crept across his ghost like face as he descended from his throne of the city. He had to get home. He had a guest to entertain.
Beth leaned against the wall of the building next to the door which his their prey from the world. She leaned her back against the cold bricks and crossed her arms over her chest, pondering. She didn't know where they were anymore than their victim did, but she trusted Jesse. He had good instincts and he'd been running these streets longer than she had. The alley in which she stood was dark, lit only by the building they'd claimed. It opened into a street which was dead, dark and silent, populated only by abandoned factories. Jesse had disappeared but she didn't mind. The prey wasn't awake yet and it gave her a chance to clear her head and think.
She closed her eyes and tuned her senses to the darkness, just as her father had taught her. She could tell the spaces that were open from those that were solid merely by the way the air felt in those directions, as if their was a gap. It was a strange sensation but it had never failed her before. A rat scuttled across the paving nearby and in the distance, far distance, a siren wailed. It didn't matter to them. No one would miss their prey and if they did Jesse and Beth were the best. They would never get caught, not as long as they watched each others backs. At the thought she lifted a hand to her throat and ran a finger over the healing cut there. She shivered with please at the memory of Jesse's blade slipping lovingly across her skin.
Beth felt the ripple in the air that told her someone had entered the alley. They made no sounds as they approached, which was how she knew it was Jesse. She kept her eyes closed and her face impassive as he approached, using only her sense of movement to guide her. She waited until he stood before her, still silent as the proverbial grave and then she smiled, still without opening her eyes. "What took you so long, darling?"

Jessie was looking towards Beth but not looking at her. A vague light getting stronger was peering through the strands of her hair, as Beth spoke. âShh,â he sounds out in hush voice to Bethâs words, as the sound of a motor approached them. Nudging Beth aside partly to get a better view, and partly in case she was in harms way, he squinted at the blinding headlights, yet he was able to make out a dark figure on the bike. He knew that walking away with two bodies werenât going to be just a snap, but a challenge was always fun. In the process of greeting a new piece in the game, a voice starts to emerge from the dark.Â
âWhatâs goinâ on here?â
Slathered across his face was that same slasher smile not altered from the new additions to his affairs. âPolite of you all to materialize yourself,â he says not bitterly but in a more amusing manner, âYou just came in time for the final act.â With vehemence he grabs Beth whilst sliding out his bowie knife from his coat, positioning the sharp end across her neck. âYou have exactly-he looks up at the train lights-Three seconds to settle on who Iâll be bringing back home. Where more games will be played.-he slants his head as his eyes widen savagely- Or I mutilate the girl(Beth).â It was time for Jessie to cut off losses, he was going to bring back home a body and putting humans against one another in hostile situations was just the icing on the cake.Â
The light shining upon them flicked off, âOneâ he says out loud as the lights turn on. The lights flick off once again, âTwoâ he says more sternly then the first whilst his knuckles turn white as he tighten his grip on the handle of his blade. Â
âOr I mutilate the girl.â
In one smooth movement Cloud swept a foot to kick out the motorcycle stand, and swung off the puma.Â
âOne.â
Undaunted by the threats he leant back on to his bike and stuck a cigarette in the crook of his lips. He was no longer a Casanova, and he wasnât looking to get suck into their affairs.Â
âTwo.â
Lighting up his cigarette he inhaled in slightly looking towards Evie. Then nodded towards her as if giving his consent to choose.Â
The combination of the cool of the blade against her throat and Jesse's warm fingers on her skin was intoxicating, even if she was slightly surprised at the turn of events. Beth reminded herself to hit him for that later. She hated being caught off guard and she wouldn't admit it to him but that was what Jesse had done to her. She wasn't particularly worried, she knew Jesse wouldn't hurt her beyond repair and anything else would probably just be a bonus to the evening for both of them.
As half of her mind followed the words and terrified expressions of the tunnel, and making sure almost automatically that she expressed the right reactions, the other half was once again tracking several steps ahead. She may have been caught heading in the wrong direction for a half a second but she was a professional and she could think on her feet as good as any of them. She'd already figured out Jesse's plan and she was trying to decide how best to help him with that. She flicked her eyes to Evie as Jesse began to count down. Time for Beth to play her part. Letting out a frightened gasp she moved as if to lunge towards Evie, reaching out a hand. "Please," she gasped then broke off with a breathless squeal as she felt herself yanked backwards into Jesse, and the comforting bite of the blade into her throat. She'd judged it perfectly and there was the hot stickiness of blood trickling down her throat, though it hadn't done any real damage.

As someone turned around the corner, she saw it was a brown haired girl with a smile on her face. The alarms going off in her head calmed alittle, but not too much. Is this how people made friends outside the Orphanage? It didnât seem rational. The boy sent chills down her spine, the way he called her a pretty flower and said she must tell him her name. And the way the girl was looking her up and down didnât help much. Maybe it was just Lillie being paranoid.
She still could not move though, her body was paralyzed. âI-Iâm Lillie,â she said nervously. âWho are you?â She looked from the boy to the girl and gulped. She got the feeling that every move she made was being tracked by them, recorded in their heads. They were like hyenas, she was a mere rabbit. All she wanted to do was close her eyes and pretend it was a dream.
Sun tossed his bags onto his bed in the dorm room, barely taking a second glance before heading out of it once more. He in no way wanted to be there right now. Not with it being so quiet, he was going out into city. He wandered his way around for a while, going into places here and there. Didnât find too much to be that exciting, and it seemed like the fun that usually followed him, was in no mood for him tonight. He sighed to himself as he left yet another shop. He looked up at the moon with a rather sour face. âYeah, this is real great so far.â He breathed. âReal good idea, real good.â He sighed, burrowing his hands in to his pockets as he began to walk again. There was no point in being out on the city, if he couldnât find something decent to do. Skittles and him always found something to doâŠSo he began the journey back to his room, where he was bound to have even less fun that he was already. He idly kicked a rock with the toe of his shoe as he walked, then stopped in front of the entrance to the undergrounds, and peering inside. Looked pretty dark and eerie, maybe Jacqueline was still up, and they could find something fun to do.Â
He pulled out his swiss army pocket knife containing a handy flashlight, that he won off from some kid playing ringer, playing for keepsies. It didnât radiate that much light but it was good enough for him to flash it in front of him so he wouldnât trip over something. As he went deeper he swore he could hear footsteps, and see shadowed figures from the corner of his eyes, but whenever he flashed in the direction..nothing was there. Just my mind playing tricks on me, he thought trying to calm himself as journeyed further. At the distance he could see one of the train station dim lights flickering off and on, shining down on some people. He was relieved to see familiar faces, or just to even see people in fact.Â
âHey Beth. Hey Lillie.â Sun greeted as he approached them. âWhat are you guys doing down here?â
Twisted thoughts creeped into Jessieâs mind painting this psychotic grin on his face. If she had any idea what he was thinking sheâd stutter her words, and her heart would race. She had giggled and smiled with her pretty friends not a thought in her mind that she was being stalked. âCherish your breath,â Jessie thought âbecause the next could be the last once I have a hold there wonât be a thing you can do.â
âHey Beth. Hey Lillie.â
Grin plastered, Jessieâs head turned stiffed and rigged like a rusty screw. Knowing that a little mishap wasnât going to stop him. What were a couple of run away orphans gonna do? Call the police? Might as well turn yourself in while your at it, Jessie thought. Another person just made things that much sweeter, now they werenât going to have to share a kill. Not like their victims knew that they were going to be butchered.Â
Suddenly the train lights above them started to flicker, Jessie being familiar with that light, knew that it was going to turn off on the third flick, leaving them in complete darkness for about six seconds. Quickly Jessieâs eyes cached Bethâs, giving her a vague nod recognition. Two flick, three flick, and just like that they were engulfed by darkness, leaving only that blonde boyâs incompetent light shining.Â
Lightning upon his syringe he pierced Lille with a shot of animal tranquilizer called etorphine hydrochloride. A clean shot that was final, leaving you stiff as a smoking barrel, and soon to be dead as a desert night. âMy name is Patrick Bateman, sweetie,â he whispered to her. It was the same alias he used to procure the tranquilizers.
Beth's calm demeanor flickered slightly as Sun appeared from the shadows, walking up beside Lillie and giving her a friendly greeting. She hadn't seen him since she'd first arrived, when she'd last turned up sobbing and bleeding at his dorm door after her 'run in' with Clover. She returned his smile, feeling Jesse's gaze pinned on her but ignoring him.
"Hey Sun, I haven't seen you around recently," she said warmly, walking slightly closer to him. He wouldn't suspect anything was wrong, not from a girl like her, and she already knew Jesse would want Lillie. She could sense he'd already claimed his prey, which meant Sun was going to be hers. Briefly she wondered what Jesse was going to do, but she didn't ponder long. He would have a plan and he could look after himself, just as she could. That's why they were such a good team. The overhead light began to flicker and she turned slightly, catchign Jesse's eye. He gave an almost imperceptibly nod and she ran her tongue lightly over her lips before turning back to Sun, her eyes gleaming with the prospect of a kill. She calculated and memorised the exact location of his body, the distance from hers, knowing she'd have to operate in the dark. That didn't matter, she was trained by the best to be able to kill and survive in all situations.
The light went out and they were all plunged into complete darkness and she struck, pouncing forwards. Her fingers found Sun just as she knew they would and in an instant she was behind him, pressing her fingertips firmly to the spot of his skull which she knew would render him unconcious in a second. She felt his body give out and let it drop to the ground just as the lights came back on. With a grin she looked down at the body and then back up at Jesse who had his own prey and was looking very pleased with himself. "Shall we swap them to carry?" She nodded at the body in Jesse's arms. "I fancy carrying the light one and you probably need all the chances you can get to build up those puny muscles of yours," she teased.
"No!" she screamed as a great force wrenched her off Daniel. The familiar gleam of gunmetal caught her eye and she writhed herself free to turn and see her father holding his favourite gun two inches from the boy's face. "No! Stop!" she shouted, fingers scrabbling at her father's arm in a desperate bid to keep him from firing the bullet which would surely end Daniel's life in an instant.
"Tabitha you know better than to be falling for a boy!" her father shouted without looking at her, his hand shaking slightly with rage. His features were contorted into an extreme anger she'd rarely seen him show and it shocked her a little to know he was so protective of her. He'd always pushed her to be able to defend herself, to make her own decisions, and yet here he was almost acting like a normal father...if you took away the gun and the likely imminent death of Daniel. She latched her fingers around his arm.
"I'm not falling for him father," she insisted quietly, suddenly perfectly calm. She saw Daniel's eyes flicker in terror from the tip of the gun to her and a small look of relief flashed across his face. She held his gaze, breathing deeply, but spoke to her father. "I'm not falling for him....he was going to be my first kill. Now you've ruined it." His eyes widened in complete shock and she smiled wickedly at the way he suddenly began to try and kick himself free, obviously realising with horror that Beth was not going to save him, quite the opposite. Her father pulled back slightly but kept the gun trained on the boy. His hand was steady now.
"Your first kill?" he asked in a voice bursting with pride. Suddenly he smiled and pushed the gun into Beth's hand. Her fingers wrapped around the cool metal. She connected her eyes with Daniel's for one second, enough to absorb his terror and the small flicker of hope there, the hope was the sweetest treat of all, and then she squeezed, firing a single bullet into his brain. "I'm proud of you," her father whispered in her ear and she gave a small smile. She felt him slip away but she stayed there, looking down at Daniel's bleeding body.
"Sorry Danny," she murmured when she knew her father was out of earshot. Quickly she leant down and pressed a light kiss to his already cold lips.
Lone wolf
Lillie walked the tunnels, counting each step she took. It was a habit of hers, and she had counting 174 so far. Darkness filled her vision, and she ran her fingers along the walls, letting them guide her to a light. Rats scurried across the floors, causing her to jump at their quiet sqeaks. She had a pet mouse as a child, named Hairy, but wild rodents gave her the heebie jeebies. Some days she regretted leaving the Orphanage, her safety net. Being free wasnât all it was cracked up to be, and rumours were that Clover and Mia had escaped as well. She was happy she hadnât ran into them yet. Evie was probably enjoying her new freedom, she hadnât seen much of the girl, and assumed she had gone to the surface. Lillie had been the lone wolf of the pack, all the other girls had new found bravery, while Lillie still felt that she was stuck in a never ending nightmare.
Foot steps behind her filled her ears, along with dripping pipes. âOh no,â she whisped to herself, it was probably someone out to scare her. With a deep breath, she turned around with her eyes closed. âWho is it?â she questioned, trying to make up their shadow.
The shadowy figure stood amidst near darkness. Betrayed only by the ominous glow of a far off light peering through the faded curtains from a room. He was amused by the fact that she never looked around to see if anyone was watching her. She only ever looked down at her feet, methodically counting each step. Her routine was becoming well-known by now. Today it would be different. He felt the short length of his duffle bag in his right hand, then deliberately made evident sounds of footsteps while approaching her from behind.
âHey there,â his voice raspy from drinking blood, as he continued to advance towards her, worried not if she ran. Jesse was fit as a fiddle, he had to be when strolling at nights, hunting his targets, sometimes even running to keep up. âMy, my your like a pretty little flower up close,â he deadpanned, âbright gold locks, green eyes, and bright pink lips. Why, you must tell me your name deary.â
Beth followed a distance behind Jesse, keeping him just in her sight. She didn't mind letting him take the lead, after all, he was the one who'd done all the hard work this time. She would be more than content to assist him in this one.
As she heard him stop she stopped too. Every nerve, every cell was tensed and alert to the slightest movement around them. She loved this momement, when anticipation hung heavy in the air. She could feel electricity sparking from the air itself and firing in jolts through her body. This moment was almost as good as the kill. She licked her lips and crept up in the darkness behind Jesse, letting her arms brush against his. Ahead of them was a girl Beth hadn't met yet but she looked perfect.
Beth smiled warmly. "Hi there," she said, pulling on her friendly act again. Sometimes Jesse liked to scare them because then they run and he'd get to chase, but Beth didn't think they had that luxury down here. Who knows who could be lurking around the corner.
