Article; “Tuesday forecast for Austin: Showers are moving across much of the Hill Country, causing the #Llano River at Llano to rise above 38 feet prompting evacuations in the area, the National Weather Service said.
Forecasters urged residents living in low-lying and vulnerable areas near the river to seek higher ground. They said the river is expected to crest at 41 feet around 7 a.m., which would make it the second-highest crest since June 14, 1935, when it reached 41.5 feet.
Llano homes in #RobinsonCityPark, Scotts Acres, near Castell, the FM 2900 Bridge in #Kingsland, Kingsland Lodge and homes downstream in Marble Falls are expected to flood or be severely damaged once the Llano River hits 38 feet, forecasters said.
In neighboring #MasonCounty along the Llano River, 6.64 inches of rain has fallen since midnight, according to the Lower Colorado River Authority.
Closer to Austin in #WilliamsonCounty, a flood warning was in effect for the south fork of the #SanGabrielRiver at Georgetown until Wednesday morning, the National Weather Service said. Flood stage on the #SanGabriel there is 9 feet, and at 6 a.m. the river was at 9.2 feet, the weather service said. The river could continue to rise to near 9.6 feet by Tuesday afternoon, forecasters said.” END but continues.
