Shelby raised his hands slowly above his head. “Relax, Ethan. I’m not here to cause any more harm. I just wanted to congratulate you again. You’re the first father worthy of winning back his son." He said calmly.
"Ca…cause harm?! You’ve caused enough harm!" What the hell was wrong with this man. Congratulations?! What sort of sicko..?! "You stay away from me and you stay away from my son!" His fingers found his phone. Police? Yes.. maybe… police or…something.
Slowly, the Origami Killer began to back away, creating a little bit of distance as if to sooth the nervous man in front of him. “Will do. You’ve earned my respect, Ethan. You’re a decent father. I’m glad I chose you to test; now I can stop searching." Clearly, the rotund killer lacked remorse for his actions, but his comment about being done "testing people" almost sounded genuine.
If only Ethan’s face could portray all the disgust he was feeling right now. “You… you kidnapped children… to test their fathers?! You… you drowned them! Your respect?! Why… why why why would I ever want that?” Testing people. “You’re toying with lives like they mean nothing!”
"The lives of these fathers' sons will mean nothing if their fathers are not worthy enough to have them. You have proved to me that there still exists an ideal father who is willing to do anything to save his son, even drink poison. I'm finished 'toying with lives' now, thanks to you." It sounded as though Shelby did not see anything wrong with his actions. He seemed to believe his search for the ideal father and the consequences of it were completely justified by his words.

Without saying a word, the so-called “Private Eye” turned toward him. He didn’t look pleased, though at the same time, it couldn’t be said that he looked particularly upset.
It didn’t seem that he had any trouble recognizing the person in front of him, but as he did, he turned his head away casually, as if simply ignoring the statement made. Until…
”Does anyone really belong here?" He asked, his voice as clear as if he were standing right beside the FBI Agent in reality. "Do you even belong here? Don’t you feel like you should be somewhere else?”
Norman felt more than a twist in his gut when eye contact was established. It didn’t need to be said, he was the cause of both of the male’s downfall. But to be stuck in what he was sure was ARI? Subtly, his fingers found the pulse point on his other wrist and he was disappointed to find that he had a very erratic pulse— that of a drug addict during a bad trip.
Good point. He found himself agreeing silently. No, they shouldn’t be there.
Especially not together. I can’t imagine the Origami Killer is too happy with me at the moment.
“Did we die?” An innocent enough question. He hoped it’d be met with an honest answer.
"It depends on how you want to define being dead." was the initial answer that the killer in front of him gave. "In a sense, I think we're all dead inside in some way, you and I especially."
Shelby turned again and faced Norman, gazing at him with his amber-hazel eyes. "Wouldn't you agree?" He asked, almost as though he was able to sense the unstable pulse of the FBI Agent from here. "What do you have to live for? All I had to live for was finding a father worthy of having a son, but... what do you have? The desire to bring peace to a broken world? To a society where someone like me can get away with murder for a simple experiment?" Despite saying this, there was no guilt in the Origami Killer's voice; there was only morbid curiosity.
