You grumbled to yourself, mumbling some loose incoherent words similar to 'bullshit' 'stupid..' so forth. The holographic television in your apartment had a tendency to produce several advertisements during those commercial breaks on your episode watching.
You couldn't be bothered paying an extra fifteen dollars simply to not have advertisements. It was bullshit. Why you had to pay to have ad-free things. They always pushed these typical advertisements on and around your neighbourhood. Sometimes it felt like they were specifically directed for you. It was annoying. The way it would pop up on your phone - or on the middle of the street, whilst trying to pay for something, your phone would pop up with a light - shining the advertisement.
The distant sounds of other adversities, such as footsteps, chatter and car horns from the city's ambience often made the world too noisy. You opted for buying your own noise cancelling headphones.
Your phone rang - stopping the television automatically. The futuristic technology made it so everything was connected. That often made you a little unsettled, as the television spoke out who was calling you - a picture shining in front of you.
'Caller: Best friend who parties too much.'
You adamantly answered your phone, swiping up. You took a breath in before speaking, your hand reached the beginning of your hair tie.
"What is it?"
"Oh my god, y/n.. The ad, boyfriend bot! It would be so good for you!" She spoke to you almost too fast for you to comprehend. You honestly couldn't help but laugh at her enthusiasm.
"What are we talking about?.." You murmured, a hand hooked under your hair tie, now pulling it out from your hair. You hissed slightly at the feeling of your hair being stuck in the elastic.
"It was just on! I reckon you should go check out that rental android hotel.. Who knows you might actually have a chance with these androids." You squinted your eyes, although it wasn't evident to your best friend on the phone; your silence definitely was.
You could almost picture her snarky little smirk on her face as you remained silent for a moment before thinking. "I don't think it'll be a good idea. You know what I'm like." Sure you'd be able to actually experience what a boyfriend would be like.. but it wasn't real and anything that you would have experienced wouldn't be either.
"Oh come on.. y/n - you sit on your ass and read books to escape your time, what's the difference between that and a real one.." She rambled on over the phone. You could sense the coaxing drip from her voice as she continued. "How about this? If you do this I'll get that party bot. God knows I probably need it.. you never come out with me anyway.."
You nibbled your bottom lip, contemplating her words. It always - no she always seemed to get her way. No matter what, you really couldn't say no to her. "Fine." You exhaled - your hand dropped to your couch making a thud as she squealed in excitement. You pulled your ear from the phone as you winced at her loudness.
"I'll send you the details! Go there and find your new boyfriend!"
“Welcome traveller! We are glad you are here with us today!”
You winced at the automatic AI voice emitting from the android in front of you. It's voice was far too cheery to be realistic as such. You scowled at its face as you chucked a few credits on the counter.
The androids face continued to smile at you as though you hadn't just insulted it and chucked your credits on the counter. “I need a bot,” you deadpanned the Android with a monotone voice.
“Well you've certainly come to the right place, traveller!” it says with a grin. “We've got plenty in store for you; party bots, best friend bots, tutor bots, boyfriend bots - you name it, we got it!”
You eyed the android in front of you with a grim look. You couldn't believe your best friend convinced you to do this - this was embarrassing.
“Uh..” You spoke up after a moment of thinking. “I need a boyfriend bot.” You murmured to the android in front of you. It's eyes devoid of emotion, yet somehow you still felt as if you were being judged.
“Got it. One boyfriend bot.” Its monotonous tone made you somehow more nervous, yet annoyed. You had nothing against androids, they were helpful in many different ways… just… this type was a little more awkward to ask for.
Yoongi: you might have a job, go to school, have good grades, a normal functioning family, a social life, but does your cat meow back at you?? That's what I thought, loser...
