I uploaded this on twitter as well but this is the start of art for my pokemon mcyt au. Below is the actual lore and couriway with his lore-accurate title.
So I'll do this more when I flesh out each character, but I have a lot of notes on Couriway so yeah its not the most organized and subject to change but here are my thoughts on Couriway's background.
As I mentioned in the brief description, Couriway is not native to Ternas, but rather to the Unova region. Growing up, he's always loved ghost-type Pokémon, much to the discomfort of many of the elders in Lacunosa Town. His mom would gift him a Honedge (which would later evolve into Aegislash) to start his Pokémon journey at the age of 10. During his time in Unova, he caught two other key members of his current team, Drifblim and Chandulure. Couriway would complete the Unova Gym Challenge, beating 2/4 of the elite four members before eventually losing to Caitlin.
After the Unova Gym Challenge, Couriway finds himself interested in learning more about the different myths he's heard since travelling around Unova. He'd briefly visit the Kalos region as a vacation, where he'd catch a Goomy before making his way to Sinnoh, a region known for its continued worship of the "Creation Trio."
Couriway spends around five years in Sinnoh, researching different myths as well as fighting through the Sinnoh gym challenge and Battle Frontier in his free time. By the end of it, Couriway becomes the youngest Sinnoh Frontier Brain, with his battle arena being the Battle Mansion. It is when he is a Frontier Brain that he meets one of his closest friends, Feinberg.
By this point, Feinberg had just beaten the Ternas Region Elite Four and was already an Ultra-ranked trainer by the age of 14. He travels to Sinnoh following the rumors of a young Frontier Brain that no one has managed to beat. They battle, and shockingly, Feinberg loses (Fein is a Fairy/Electric trainer). Though in their rematch, Feinberg wins, clearing the battle frontier.
From then on, they become close, and Feinberg even gifts Couriway the Corviknight on his team, after accidentally catching it in Galar without knowing it was a steel type (If you don't know Pokémon at all, fairy types are weak to steel, so let's say Feinberg is not very keen on metallic friends).
Couriway eventually leaves Sinnoh to visit Paldea and look into their phenomenon of past and future paradox Pokémon. It is in this visit that he meets his final team member, Goldengo. It is while he is in Paldea that he learn Feinberg is the new Champion of the Ternas region. A few months into becoming Champion, Feinberg asks if Couriway would like to be a gym leader in Faens Town, a famous place for mediums, the occult, and rich history connected to the creation myth of the Ternas region. Of course, Couriway said yes, and the rest is history.
(Also, as a fun fact, I'd like to think his mom was a fashion designer (a nod to Couriway's real-life profession as a graphic designer) who, when visiting the Kalos region, fell in love with the town Couriway so much that she named her son after it.)
I uploaded this on twitter as well but this is the start of art for my pokemon mcyt au. Below is the actual lore and couriway with his lore-accurate title.
Found a trainer card maker and thought it was the best way to introduce each important trainer/character in this pokeverse. So yeah, most of the Pokémon sprites are from there, though I did edit some of them to make them look nicer, or created new ones if they didn't have the pokemon (for example the huisuian varient of goodra). Also all the trainer sprites are originals of mine so yeah.
Anyways enough of yap i finished couri so I'll post that soon after I'm done fleshing out all his lore.
into the flames we were never sure (who would you want to save?)

A massive congrats to Tubbo for winning best minecraft streamer. He has done so much for the community this year connecting people from all corners of the space. From play hosting to the realm to Midoffs Tubbo never fails to create something special and he deserves this so much.
every single nominee did amazing things in the minecraft streaming space and this year is proof that the minecraft community has come so far and still has so much talent to showcase, maybe now more than ever.
I feel like in the past minecraft streamer award nominees haven't always been people who actually streamed minecraft frequently. This year we had an amazing lineup of people who really do stream minecraft and are at the core of the minecraft community. We have builders, pvpers, event players, speedrunners, roleplayers literally everything. Its such a good showing of what the mcyt streaming community has to offer.
Scar is such an incredible creator who demonstrates how minecraft can be used as an outlet for creativity. He is endlessly funny and entertaining and the charity stream he organized was incredible and inspiring. To call him anything but an artist would be a disservice
Feinberg is an example of excellence in the minecraft community. He has also played a massive role elevating mcsr ranked playoffs, cementing mcsr as a minecraft esport. His skill is awe inspiring and his passion and skill for this game are so admirable.
Pangi highlights the potential of minecraft streaming. He has grown such much in the past year coming into his own in his content and demonstrating the value of minecraft as a medium for comedy and storytelling.
Couriway embodies the longevity of minecraft. After more than a decade minecraft remains an incredible popular game and no one is more dedicated to it than Couriway. His infectious love for the game and commitment to accessibility makes people feel at home in this community.
Tubbo has transformed the minecraft streaming space in so many ways this year. Play.hosting made the game more accessible to so many people. The realm created a moving story and connected people who may never have otherwise met. He helped elevate mcsr ranked playoffs and created his own tournament as well. Tubbo stands at the center of the minecraft streaming community and connects people from all over. No one is doing it like him. Its so amazing to see Tubbo win after all these years, I'm so happy for him.
why is couri lowk serving here
i found old notes + sketches of mcyt/mcsr streamers as pokemon trainers. Would people be interested in me reworking them? (I want to change the style into pixel art cuz I love the older pixel sprites)
W NADDY the mcsr ranked stats are so interesting omg. also stats presentation in a lecture hall to a group of minecraft players is an objectively funny situation i love it here
I had an old file from like 3-4 years ago about an hbg/mcyt pokemon fic. would anyone be interested in at least the worldbuilding for it?
I'm torn between being upset over mc creators not being in other categories and also understanding that mc rn on twitch is very much a bubble which means a lot of people outside don't know people in the mc community while some of the other nominees in their categories are known outside of it.
However, one point I do have is that couriway and feinberg are especially more than qualified to have been in the best speedrunning category, so unless a lot of people outside the other speedrunners' communities voted for them, it basically confirms that they were moved out and put in MC.
^^ these are the 3-month stats of the streamers currently voted for speedrun
^^ these are the 3-month stats for Couri and Feinberg
There is a question whether or not Couri has the pure stats to be in the category, but unlike Feinberg, he campaigned, and I'm assuming all of the mcsr community was voting for him. Anyway, I find it very unlikely that people changed their minds and suddenly decided to vote Couriway for MC.
would you eat this gummy for 5 dollars
we cannot pie chart, preemptive, pre craft our way out of this one boys
Okay all of my knowledge from speed running comes from watching Lukey's streams this week and I barely retained like 50% of that knowledge. So like take this with a grain of salt but I just wanna lay out the reasons why I think he lost this.
1. From the get go, he was at a huge disadvantage. The majority of the roster was way more experienced at Minecraft than him. Where as they were starting at like idk a 50% Minecraft speed running knowledge and general Minecraft knowledge, Lukey was starting at like 30% or even less. Like both him and Pangi and lots of other said, it all comes down to experience with the game which he just does not have. That's why SB f.e. is crushing it even though he practiced way less than Lukey.
Because while Lukey made incredible progress and was getting better and better, everyone else was getting better and better too with their experience they already had.
2. The first matchup was just unfortunate. Yes Ros is not the strongest contender like Pangi but she was still already with a much higher average and experience. Imo both Lukey and Infume were hoping for her to fumble a bit too hard but in the end they couldn't have changed the matchup either way. But I feel like if he had gone against Holls or Sykkuno for the first match, he could've won.
But then again, we saw what happened on day 1 with John and Pangi and with how long Max and Sykkuno played for. So maybe the matchups didn't matter that much.
3. Lukey just is slower. He said this, Infume has said this, some of us have said this. It's partly the thing with experience too but Lukey just isn't as quick as with it. He takes a second longer to make a decision and especially with his quick Infume talks and how quickly they have to play, it's just his downfall. Now I don't want anyone to take this as in that Lukey is stupid or something. I don't think being a bit slower than a world record holder or people who have years of experience in Minecraft means you're less smart or whatever.
4. His PC. Oh my god. We all know this, he knows this. But oh my god. His PC is cooked. I reckon if he had a better PC, he would've played a lot better. idk if he would've won but he would've definitely been better without the lag and with everything being able to work properly, render distance etc.
But it is part of the reason why he lost.
Now let's get into the first game, which was just gutting.
5. 1. Lukey was incredibly nervous. I think everyone is and it totally makes sense, you can definitely tell by how much everyone is messing up in their runs and you could feel it with Lukey as well. He was shaky, he was fumbling and he died. It was a mess. But not the only reason why he lost that imo.
Because
5.2. The lag was crazy. Like Lukey's frames were just dead. It has never been that bad before.
5.3. May have been the nerves of both him and Infume too but their comms were really not the best. And Infume fumbled on the gravel part, which could've saved them another minute
5.4. Now I didn't watch all of it because I was too locked in on Lukey's POV but Ros just played this really well. From what I heard and saw she just didn't have any major mistakes meanwhile Lukey died.
And for the game with 5up, I think he didn't do anything wrong, just the same first four reasons and the fact that 5up is just a better player. Both of them played incredibly well and Lukey wasn't that much behind but in the end 5up was just quicker and better.
In the end though, I think Lukey did incredibly well. He improved so much and despite how parasocial it feels to say this, I'm so proud of him. Of course I wished he would've lasted longer in the tournament but I still think he can be proud of himself.
Also huge WW to infume for being an incredible coach. He did so well!!
I think both him and Lukey need to practice directions and their lefts and rights.
GGS to all the players!!
Just kinda adding on to this as a person who did watch mscr before midoffs (back in the good ole 2020-2023 time period, and started watching again recently this year), Lukey's biggest disadvantage was his pure mechanical skills. Other streamers in this event, like 5up, sleepy, and John, while they do play Minecraft, don't honestly have that different of a level of experience in Minecraft compared to lukey I believe (I could be wrong so don't quote me on this). However, all three of them from what I can see do one thing significantly better than lukey, using their keybinds.
Obviously people like Pangi has good movement and reflexes in the game cuz he does a lot of PVP, but these other player advantages is that when they do play Minecraft, they play in competitions/events. This means when they do touch the game, they are more inclined to practice the game using keybinds cuz they are the most optimal way to get to items and other stuff. Lukey on the other hand only really has played Minecraft casually. It doesn't matter if it takes him 0.5s or 5s to craft an item, but in a speedrun that obviously adds up.
Like infume was talking about this and honestly (and some what understandably) getting a little bit frustrated at lukey not being able to use his own keybinds when doing stuff like organizing his inventory and throwing out items.
All of this to say, lukey could easily get sub 20 pace if he learns to consistently use his keybinds, which comes with practice. I also pray he learns to do the script and get rid of that stupid narrator and buries his current PC 6ft under
