AU! Falling like a Meteor | (Mikasa & Ran)
Four years since they had first met. One year since she had finally figured out where the older woman's place in her heart, understood what were the feelings of turmoil that churned restlessly within her whenever their eyes met. Three hours since she had last saw her. Two more minutes until she would see her again.
And a lifetime she would never be able to again.
The hand holding onto the slightly crumpled sheet of paper started trembling slightly at the revelation, the ticking of the clock like a constantly rushing factor that only served to make the young ravenette even more nervous than she already was. Her heart thundered in her chest, aching at the same time at the mere thought of seeing her face once more. For the last time.
Ran-sensei.
Upon her arrival at Bunkyo years back, all Mikasa ever wanted was to experience the wonders she had often heard in Eren and Armin's wistful tones, the wonders she; no, all of them had fought so hard for. She wanted to get away from the chains that bound her to misery since young. She had wanted so many things, dreamed of so many things. And just like any other teenager, Mikasa had imagined finding love.
Just not in the form of a Karate champion and her teacher no less.
At first it was just plain admiration of her strong-willed personality. As a soldier herself, Mikasa appreciated people who extruded determination and confidence. However as time slowly went by, her admiration turned into adoration and it had already been too late when the young soldier realized she had fallen too hard and too fast.
A soft click then sounded, the two minutes she had waited seemed more like two millenniums that had crawled by for the other's class to be dismissed. Silver hues regarded the students that were filing out in a detached manner, silently urging them to hurry the hell up so she could finally have the brown haired beauty all to herself.
When the last of her students had finally left the classroom, Mikasa braved herself as she made her way into the lecture hall, her footfalls careful and soft in her approach.
"Good evening, Ran-sensei." She greeted the one person she had been dying to see all afternoon, her eyes intent on the other's figure that was hunched over as she busied with the packing of various items. Mikasa was glad that her voice sounded impassive as always, not giving away the excitement she felt inside.
