still in a redrawing kinda mood :V
Idra's so starved for companionship that she considers friends people who tolerate her. They don't even have to like her, that's how low her standards are.
Thinking about Idra for neo-noir: In her twenties, most likely fresh out of college and unsure of what she wants to do with her life aside from taking pictures. Moves to the city because she has no other life plans and it might bring opportunities. Wasn't so much as scared by the appearance of the monsters as she was frustrated that everything's gone to hell in her life (again). She likely chose to hole up somewhere after the fact... fighting isn't really her thing. But she carries a bat for defense and gets by alright by taking out her pent-up negativity and personal issues on the monsters she does encounter. Not the easiest person to team up with bc of how crabby and cynical she can get. But she'll stick with you so long as you put up with her. And it'll probably be obvious after a while she appreciates having someone with her to face the madness together, since she's a pretty lonely person and she's way out of her element.
Questionnaire for Idra will do format editing next time I'm on the computer, bc the app is annoying when it comes to stuff like that
What is your character’s full name? Idra Anne Leibowitz
When were they born? April 13, 1993
What are their parents' names? Sam and Ava Leibowitz
Do they have any brothers or sisters? Nah, Idra is an only child. She is also adopted.
What kind of eyes do they have? Idra has very narrow eyes and often looks like she's squinting in displeasure or suspicion. They're steely grey in color and her expression is often described as cold or bitter.
What kind of hair do they have? Her hair is a shade of burgundy and falls past her waist. Idra used to keep up with her hair and trimmed it so that it was neat. But after leaving high school behind she stopped trying so hard and now it's something of an unruly mess. She usually leaves it loose but will put it up in a half-assed ponytail if annoyed.
What is their complexion like? She's dark-skinned and covered in freckles; they dot her face, nose, hands, wrists, legs, everywhere. Idra's skin can get greasy, especially when she's stressed, so she often suffers from acne.
What body type are they? A string bean with thin limbs and a lanky build. Idra is not curvy, wearing a 32A bra and 0 pants size. She's petite in height at 4'11". At most she weighs about 99 lbs.
What is listening to their voice like? I don't have an audio equivalent to her voice... just bc it's often difficult for me to find things like that. But she has a low speaking voice with a slight rasp. Her voice takes on a shrieking quality when upset or angry.
Do they have a favorite quote? "Gone elsewhere. Elsewhere is everywhere," a message purportedly by Edward Baker (deceased) to Abraham Lincoln, conveyed through medium J. B. Conklin. Idra had a near-death experience as a child and feels the quote sums up what she saw and felt.
What sort of music do they enjoy? Moody music... probably was a huge fan of MCR in middle school and high school but shifted over to creepy ambient tracks. She enjoys a lot of sad songs as well.
Have they every cheated on a partner? Idra has not dated, nor had a requited romance. She's pretty pessimistic about romance and believes she's destined to be a smelly spinster with too many cats. But a part of her hopes she someday ends up with a partner.
Have they ever lost someone close to them? Nope. Idra has not lost any family members and she's never had any close friends.
What is their favorite sound? She likes the sound of boiling water and finds the bubbling noise calming. Sometimes she boils water just to help relieve stress.
Are they judgmental of others? She is. It's part of why she has difficulty connecting to others. Idra often scoffs at people she considers normal and will judge them on how cliched she thinks their interests and problems are.
Have they ever been drunk? No, she doesn't drink. She hates the taste of alcohol.
What are they like when they stay up all night? Idra's a lot crabbier than usual when she's sleep-deprived. She's quicker to snap at others and get frustrated with herself and her shortcomings.
Have they ever been arrested? She's been taken into custody for trespassing (she lurks in a lot at cemeteries and at private properties she finds creepy) before but never arrested outright.
What color evokes strong memories for them? White, in that she remembers a bright whiteness from her near-death experience.
What do they do on rainy days? She takes listless photos of the rain falling down windowpanes, etc. She also watches television in her undies and sneers at the people on the screen. Other times she dicks around on her computer reading weird and macabre articles.
What religion are they? Idra practices Progressive Judaism.
What word do they overuse the most? She mentally calls people idiots a lot.
What do they wear to bed? She sleeps in just her panties or in the nude because putting on pajamas is more effort than it's worth.
Do they have any tattoos or piercings? Nah, not the type to be interested in that sort of thing.
What type of clothing are they most comfortable in? Idra wears a lot of sweaters and pencil skirts... thigh high or knee high socks with creepers or buffalos. She favors button-ups with peter pan collars. I want to say her style is half-Velma Dinkley and half-Wednesday Addams. Frumpy nerd with a bit of dreary goth. But really she'll just stay in her underwear if she doesn't have to leave her apartment.
What is their most disliked saying? She gets pretty annoyed by sentence fillers like "um" and "like."
Do they have enemies? Not... really. I imagine a lot of people find her unpleasant, but there's no one she considers an enemy or vice versa. Granted, part of that is because I haven't rp'd Idra or developed detailed personal plots involving her.
What disgusts them? Normalcy... the everyday averageness of life. First world problems, that sort of thing. But a lot of that has to do with jealousy and loneliness, since she's always had difficulties fitting and hasn't had a lot of common life experiences as a result.
thinkin bout Idra :U
if she had like… some kinda power it’d probably be intangibility a la spirit physiology. she’d be able to float through things at will and turn invisiblur. and it’d be a result of that near death experience she had as a kid. a part of her got left behind and she didn’t come back quite right.
as a teenager she probably used it to awkwardly spy on her peers due to a desire to relate to others better. (Idra’s never been the best at making friends or forging positive relations bc of her mean-spiritedness and bitter nature). but after she graduated and moved on from a high school environment, she stopped giving a shit and would likely use her power for more practical stuff. like getting to the bathroom quicker when she has to pee or directly grabbing food from the fridge without bothering with the door.
despite being self-conscious about her twiggy physique, Idra favors her undies in space au. in part, she does it to cut down on laundry. but the lack of more layers is also due to laziness. there have been times she’s been caught offguard through unexpected rendezvous with ships. and she gripes and screams her way through embarrassing video hails while trying to maintain some decency.
post-apocalypse, space... Idra as one of the few survivors that got off the earth in time before it was destroyed/died. drifts around in a cramped pod decorated with polaroids and stacks of diaries filled with miserable entries. socially awkward bc she hasn’t seen another human in god knows how long and alternates between feeling desperate for company and loathing contact with others.
Idra's a kiddo I haven't focused on in a long time and I want to... but I don't really know what to do with her. I had an independent blog set up for her years ago and she blogged a lot of creepy gore, etc. but there really hasn't been anything beyond that, like a canon to ground her or an rp to throw her in. I'm just never sure where she fits but I guess that kinda suitss her. she's always been something of a misfit.
