I’ve gotten really fond of space au since I started thinking of stuff for it... mostly bc of the unlikely matchup of Idra and Titus, two ocs that have never had anything to do with each other previously. it isn’t a romantic or friendly dynamic. nor is it severely negative, as Titus is affably evil and uninterested in hurting his hostage/helper unless it is a complete necessity. they’re just two beings trying to reach an understanding while achieving a (begrudgingly, on Idra’s part) shared goal.

one of the big things Idra deals with is Titus’ lack of emotional depth and how that affects his interactions with others. and through their shared time together, he genuinely grows to be more human.... instead of simply playing at it.

anddddd last thoughts bc I have to get up early, but Titus is childishly possessive of anything related to Earth. and their seeking of revenge is akin to a child that's angry over someone breaking their favorite toy. the fact that people's lives were lost and that those that survived the tragedy are grieving refugees aren't what's fueling their quest for vengeance either. it's a very selfish endeavor.

continuing to ponder.

Idra has the key to some sort of big doom’s day device... how she has it is an unknown at this point. could be that it was shoved on her (and its importance was not explained) or that she accidentally came to possess it. but Titus knows what the artifact is for and what it can do and is interested. Idra’s given an ultimatum to help Titus look for the device or well... to die (can’t have witnesses) and she opts to live. cue an unlikely team-up.

Titus is some sort of shapeshifter/alien skinwalker (possibly artificial in origin?) and they choose to look human because they're a fan of the species. their emotions are very superficial and stunted but one can tell there’s something genuine about their interest in Earth. and their hunt for the big doomsday thing is so they can blow up whatever/whomever caused Earth’s demise.

starting a list to keep track of this space stuff:

Idra - refugee, drifter // cranky drifter that alternates between feeling desperate for social interaction and shunning all contact, unknowingly in possession of something important (probably)

Tamara - lawman, reformed criminal // on a rampant quest for revenge against her former partner and isn’t all that concerned about anyone that gets between her and her target

Titus - anarchist, criminal // an agent of chaos w devastatingly good looks

guess I’m slowly expanding the space au that Idra’s in to include Titus as a highly dangerous criminal with a large bounty on their head. not really all that different from their gem version except y’know. not a gem. Tamara was their partner at one point but switched to the right side of the space law after Titus threw her under the bus. so now she’s hunting them down with righteous fury.

despite being self-conscious about her twiggy physique, Idra favors her undies in space au. in part, she does it to cut down on laundry. but the lack of more layers is also due to laziness. there have been times she’s been caught offguard through unexpected rendezvous with ships. and she gripes and screams her way through embarrassing video hails while trying to maintain some decency.

post-apocalypse, space... Idra as one of the few survivors that got off the earth in time before it was destroyed/died. drifts around in a cramped pod decorated with polaroids and stacks of diaries filled with miserable entries. socially awkward bc she hasn’t seen another human in god knows how long and alternates between feeling desperate for company and loathing contact with others.
