It wasn't hard to guess who the mysterious sender was if one looked around the class, and Elyon happened to be the one with the 'mysterious' expression.
The paper landed with a soft plop on Cornelia's desk. Elyon quickly averted her gaze, feigning studiousness as she pretended to pore over her textbook without attracting the unwanted attention of their eagle-eyed instructor, all the while watching Cornelia intently from the corner of her eye open folded square below her desk, out of view. The note contained: I hope you don't have plans for tomorrow, Corny! Because my parents bought a lot of junk food and promised that if I pass math test, the house is entirely mine for the movie night & PJ party. If you won't come I'll call you chicken for the rest of the week!! PS: I need your advice to pick up some pretty dress ...
Dress? Was she trying to impress someone? Who knows. A grin spread across Elyon's face, thrilled that Cornelia seemed to be on board with her clandestine plans; now only to persuade the rest of Hales. The two friends shared a moment of excited, conspiratorial connection before forcing their faces into studious expressions and their attention back to the lesson at hand.
By then, none of them had idea it would be the last time they sent each other messages like that ...
