She stormed in, all fire and indignation, and it took him a moment to realize he wasn’t the source. About fifteen seconds in, he realized she was about to go on a full blown rant about her boyfriend. Hearing about her relationship woes was the last way he intended to spend the evening. “Well-” he interrupted loudly. “I’d love to say ‘tell me all about it’ and mean it, but since I can’t-” he paused, picking up the joint he'd been rolling when she came in. “Why don’t we just get blazed instead?” he offered.

“look, i’m sorry for the outburst,” she paused, her eyes drawn downward, “but at least nobody was hurt.” brenna’s magic had gone a little haywire and caused a surge that blew over a bookshelf. she’d spent all day helping to clean it up, knowing that was the least she could’ve done.
open starter // maya machado
maya had moved away for a few months when she finally got the okay from her mom she could return. if not to look after ethan she needed to try and find answers about what the whole town was about. so as she turned a corner she bumped into someone and sighed. “oh, i’m sorry. didn’t see you there.”
open starter // bella hartley (crossovers are welcome)
“look, it’s complicated. but i, uh, can’t talk about it,” bella swore, standing firm in her decision. she had fought for many years to keep the secret of her being a mermaid, even from her own parents. sure there were a few that knew, but two of them were mermaids. “can we please just drop it?”
open starter // serena walker (goth coven leader)
“this school is much better than my home. sure there’s chaos here, but i’d rather deal with that than the insanity back home,” she sighed. “here is where i don’t feel like an outsider, despite being a goth.”

She’d shown up at the bar he’d performed at that night. Javier could have believed that was just a happy accident, much like the fact that this just happened to be one of the rare nights his girlfriend didn’t make it out to see him play. And even when she approached him as he was getting a drink, he could have chalked it up to the pair just catching up with some friendly conversation. But he wasn’t sure how they’d ended up here; with her lips on his as he pressed her back against the back hallway. Their hands were tugging at each other and he was quickly getting lost in the girl, just like old times. But this wasn’t old times. “Fuck!” he gasped in exasperation, pulling away from her and pressing his back against the wall opposite her. “We can’t - I can’t do this!” he sighed, raking his fingers through his curls. “I’m with Gwen now.” And he had been for months, he knew she knew that.

Another fight with his father (this one about Carlisle’s latest, widely publicized exploits in Europe) found him drinking on the porch to numb the irritation. The rest of his family may have been content to tow the company line, but Carlisle had never seen the point of having all this money and freedom if he wasn’t supposed to use it. So he planned on finishing his father’s scotch and then taking off to find the nearest scandal to cause. But when he saw her coming out of the house, he wondered if he might be able to kill two birds with one stone. “Hey.” he called for her attention before she could step off the porch to head home for the night. Carlisle gestured to the empty spot on the porch swing next to him. “Come have a drink with me.”
