The writing in Druck (esp this season) reminds me of my own writing lol. It’s like I have an outline planned out with every note every scene has to hit in order for every chapter(/episode) to make sense internally and as part of the whole(/season). And then I write the scene and I stop the moment all the notes have been hit. Which is great because it all makes sense internally, but it’s abrupt af. If there’s one thing this season is missing compared to Skam is that Skam allowed for the scenes to unfold in a way that seemed more natural.
With this clip particularly it feels like WHAM BAM THANK YOU MA’AM. Fatou is late ➡ Fatou bins report card ➡ cashqueens make Kieu My feel uncomfortable ➡ Fatou ignores Karin’s call ➡ Fatou realizes she forgot her friend date with Ava. All the notes necessary for this scene to move the plot have been hit. Done!
I get that Fatou has ADHD (since a video about dating a person with ADHD was linked at the end) and that affects how she perceives things. But I still feel like we don’t get to truly spend time with the characters like in Skam (and España and Austin). Seriously, just getting to be with the characters for a bit without feeling like every second counts or has to count would go a long way for the pacing to feel less abrupt. If this season is supposed to be wlw trope paradise, remember that fanfiction is also a way for people to just enjoy being with the characters outside of plot.
