Enjoyment of the mundane... In retrospect, I see why other fictives would talk about this sort of thing in amusement or wonder. For me, it's a lot of wonder.
...First time making our bed today. Changed out the sheets, got everything in order, made it neat... It feels special. Something I can't stop thinking about and marveling.
Which, realistically, is probably a little silly. I'm sure I made my own bed- of a sort- before. I had an apartment. I was set up to be reasonably comfortable for the time I was...in the city. The idea that I didn't do the occasional, mundane thing (or few) while waiting on "work," going to my job, and then spending time with Denji.... I mean, it's silly, isn't it? Even an assassin would have to do the dishes or tidy up her bed.
...But I guess it means something, because this is the first bed I've made where there was nothing "extra" going on. I'm no one but me- this very specific version of me- and I got to make the bed, change out the sheets, and get tired doing it because... I had to. We'll have better sleep this way, and it's cleaner.
Heh, well. In short, it's standout because I really do get to have that simple life I wanted. It may not be in the country, literally, but... Even an unremarkable day is really important for someone like me.
That's what it comes down to. And I'm grateful.
