What is Hayden's duty in the group? I hear a lot of people look to him as the leader,since he seems emotionally strong.
Well, I guess he’s kind of like the leading figure? I mean, I don’t know if he’d call himself a leader but I’m sure most of the group see him as that kind of figure. Although, he’s not always emotionally strong he just kinda… brushes it under the rug for a bit.
“I’ve failed you again.”
Running was something Nill was pretty much used to at this point, having had her share of running into people that were..unwanted. She couldn’t help but run into them, though. Some situations couldn’t be avoided no matter how much she put it off. Some situations however, were more bearable than others and she even looked forward to them. Like seeing Allen, for instance. She could really use seeing him right now.
She knew of the reports of more gang activity, the rising problems of the city in general was distasteful. But, this group wasn’t usually seen in the area. Unable to understand why they chose this time of day, place, and day in particular made her extra cautious around them. Attempting to get around them or at least a little bit out of view was feeble and stupid, because before she knew it they already knew of her.
…
The only sound resonating was her heartbeat in her ears as well as the faded voices behind her. Her chest was on fire at this point, how long had she been running? Something she was hoping wouldn’t happen, did indeed, happen. She met the concrete with her bare hands trying to soften her fall, breaking the skin the deepest she’s received in awhile, as well as her knees. If she hadn’t had so much adrenaline pumping in her system it’d be excruciating.. She would have stood up without a moment’s hesitation if it weren’t for the voice that followed, a voice she recognized in the midst of the chaos going on around her, telling her to stay down. She did. And she waited. Up until the point she warmth beside her and shaky, protective arms find their ways around her petite figure. It was quiet for a few minutes until a soft, choked back voice whispered,
"I’ve failed you again."
No.. How could he have? Carefully, she pulled her hands up, and he moved along, to cup his face in them despite them stinging and bleeding—ah, this was probably gross, huh?—leaning her forehead against his. The expression on his face was much more unbearable than her wounds; physical pain she received couldn’t compare to this look. Never this one in particular. He could never fail her. It.. this.. nothing was his fault. He was her hero.
WHAT IS YOUR EARLIEST HUMAN MEMORY?
Carefully, and without missing a beat, she signed:
{.. When I was small, I remember my mother tracing her fingers on my birthmarks and her telling me I was like her own little angel. With the marks to prove it. ..}
