CANON NaChi VS BETA NaChi. // twin!verse.

chika isn’t as self-sacrificing as chiaki, and she simultaneously fears and respects her sister’s selflessness. after chiaki’s punishment in dr3:d, i can see chika responding in one of two ways:

being so utterly crushed by despair, even moreso than her classmates, that she becomes an active remnant, and perhaps an accomplice in infecting the neo world program or

feeling so totally lost that she ‘takes on’ chiaki as a persona and tries to spread the hope she died for, and possibly pursue hajime/izuru if she was aware of his connection to her sister. this would lead to her joining the future foundation, if she can access it.

which way she falls will depend heavily on other events, namely if she was present during 77b’s brainwashing (in canon-compliant timelines) or potentially the execution itself.

The house was silent apart from the buttons Chika clacked to the beat of a pop song, complementing a tune more positive than how she felt right now. Rhythm games were meant to help her unwind, train up her reactions with minimal time-investment, but Chika’s attention flitted uneasily between her 3DS screen and the nearby window. The sky was… darker than it’d been when she’d first come downstairs, and the torrent of rain only seemed to be getting heavier. If a storm was brewing…

The brunette turned up the volume, letting music leak beyond her headphones. She knew she should focus on the game, use it as a distraction like she normally would, but there was something that-

Someone shot past her window.

Startled, Chika fumbled with her console, instantly losing her combo. She frowned down at the MISS’s that began eating her HP bar, tapping pause so they wouldn’t consume it all. The sound of rain promptly flooded her ears. And- was someone knocking on her door?

Chika rose to her feet and padded into the hallway, squinting through the peep hole. A girl she vaguely recognised as her underclassman was on the other side, dripping wet and looking none-too-pleased. Visibly confused, Chika opened the door.

❝ Kouhai...? Why are you- ❞

A clap of thunder cut her off, and Chika flinched, voice pitching into a yelp.

❝ - HERE! ❞

POP.  Chika visibly cringed at the sound, clutching her grocery bag against her chest. This was the last encounter she’d expected to have on a late-night snack run, but she couldn’t just leave this girl here, temporarily fixed or otherwise. ‘Fine’? Didn’t... didn’t it hurt?

❝ You - um - ❞

Nervous under Mukuro’s intense eye contact, Chika touched her lips, averting her gaze.

❝ - should... find a doctor… ❞  She bit back a ‘probably’; this much she didn’t want to budge on. She wasn’t an expert on injured arms or shoulders, but this stranger’s looked too crooked to be healthy...  ❝ Your uniform… are you a student here? I know a - nurse. In the dorms. I can... take you to her. ❞  As much as Chika didn’t want to disturb Mikan so late, she was the closest medic in vicinity. Hopefully she could excuse an intrusion...

For all that her quest had ended joyously, there was weariness in the way she held herself, and a sadness in her beauty that Molly had never seen. It suddenly seemed to her that the unicorn's sorrow was not for L¨ªr but for the lost girl who could not be brought back; for the Lady Amalthea, who might have lived happily ever after with the prince. The unicorn bowed her head, and her horn glanced across L¨ªr's chin as clumsily as a first kiss. He sat up blinking, smiling at something long ago. "Father," he said in a quick, wondering voice. "Father, I had a dream." Then he saw the unicorn, and he rose to his feet as the blood on his face began to shine and move again. He said, "I was dead." The unicorn touched him a second time, over the heart, letting her horn rest there for a little space. They were both trembling. Prince L¨ªr put his hands out to her like words. She said, "I remember you. I remember."
