They had sworn they would never do this again, not after what had happened, not after what had been done to them. They had run so far and hidden and started a new life they've been content with. But today they saw that face on the news, and they knew that face. They saw it for the first time in their life, but they knew it. The most logical thing would've been to turn off the TV and try their best to pretend that nothing happened, but they froze looking at it, and then they heard those scarce details the police allowed to publish and they found themselves dialing the number they saw on the screen.
Their call was responded to immediately, and after they said their name and the reason, they were redirected to Detective Silvestri. They introduced themselves once again to give themselves a little more credibility and to make sure that the Detective would at least listen to what they were going to say. "I think, I can provide you vith the important information about the man you're lookin' for," their heart raced in their chest, but they tried to sound calm, "... No, it's impossible. Someone needs to come to me vith the photo, and I'll tell you everythin' I can." It surprised them that the Detective agreed to their terms, although reluctantly. They gave him their address and hung up. An hour later the bell on their door rang. They breathed slowly counting each exhale, one... two... three... four, preparing themselves for the possible reaction and attitude, and opened the door.
"Hi. Come in, please."
