PROMPTS I’D LIKE TO RECEIVE, PART 1 || ACCEPTING

[ 😱 ] does your muse have any specific fears? where did those fears come from? 

       To some degree, Demo’s fears are verse-dependent. In any version of the Aftermath verse, it has an incredibly intense fear of being restrained and/or trapped, especially in smaller, more confined spaces. Note that this doesn’t mean it has a fear of such spaces themselves (though it is notably less comfortable with them following its capture and subsequent escape, especially if they’re at all similar to where it was kept). Also related to its time in captivity is an exceptionally strong aversion to being touched, knives, and surgical equipment.

       For a fear that exists in basically every verse, the answer is simply fire. Though perhaps higher temperatures or extreme heat in general may also tie into that to some degree. This is due to heat and fire being among the few things that can truly harm Demo and its species, with burn wounds in particular being much harder to recover from than almost any other sort of injury. If the burns are severe enough, it’s entirely possible that the damage would in fact be permanent.

[ 💛 ] how empathetic is your muse? how compassionate are they? is this something people expect from them, or are people surprised when they find out how compassionate or empathetic they actually are?

       If Demo forms a positive relationship with someone, yes, it can be incredibly compassionate. At the very least, it’ll try. As far as how empathetic Demo is, it’s a similar case. Despite Demo’s Psychic Bullshit abilities, however, it doesn’t always understand enough to fully achieve empathy, but rather sympathy. There is a chance these may apply with others outside of those who Demo has some sort of bond with, but that depends heavily on the circumstances. 

       The fact that Demo can be so caring does have a tendency to surprise people though.

Notes regarding Demo’s telepathic abilities:

When communicating through mental means, Demo has two primary methods of providing information. These methods will be referred to as “Projecting” and “Imposing”.

— Projecting: Akin to how humans share knowledge, be it through conversation or media, albeit with a little extra. Information is being shared, usually through the use of sensations or images, but there's generally enough of a disconnect that whoever's on the receiving end can tell that these thoughts/emotions/sensations/etc. are coming from another party.

— Imposing: Imposing takes things much further than Projecting. This is where Demo essentially overrides someone else's mind and senses to make them experience whatever it's experiencing, as if they were it and it was them, and in most cases it can become excruciatingly difficult if not impossible for the receiver to distinguish between what's coming from them vs what's coming from Demo. That being said, Demo can choose exactly what it Imposes, though some things can bleed through unintentionally.

Projecting and Imposing can both be done at the same time if Demo feels so inclined.

[ 🧸 ] does your muse keep anything sentimental? if so, what do they keep and why?

       Okay. So.

       As far as physical keepsakes, there’s nothing that Demo has in any verse that would fall under that category. Frankly, Demo doesn’t hold on to any physical objects. Between its nature, experiences, and generally nomadic lifestyle, it‘s neither had the opportunity to ever really get sentimental about anything nor anywhere it could really keep anything.

       If there ever were any sort of sentimental occasions, Demo would be far more likely to cling to the memory and the experience(s) than any physical objects.

       That being said.

       If someone Demo was on at least neutral terms with were to gift Demo with something (other than food, because that would just get eaten as one might expect), Demo will go out of its way to hold onto that item, regardless of whether or not it understands what said item is.

       I’m not kidding. Demo will find a safe place to stash any and all gifts, revisit that stash often, and relocate the stash to whichever area it plans on hanging around next if its on the move (or if it’s some sort of clothing item or accessory, it might try to wear it constantly unless persuaded otherwise). Only people it trusts are allowed to handle these precious items and even then Demo can be leery about letting them do so. If a stranger touches them? Demo might take their hand off. If it found out someone took or damaged anything? Oh there would be absolute hell to pay.

       Bonus fun fact: Demo very much enjoys soft things. Yes, it will snuggle them.

Notes about Demogorgon in the Aftermath verse:

Appearance is based on the Escaped Specimen skin from Dead by Daylight. However, Aftermath!Demo has managed to remove the chains from its torso and has since healed all exposed injuries.

However, it still retains the shackles and collar, and the chains connected to those. The wounds caused/covered by them are also present and unable to fully heal so long as those remnants of the restraints remain in place. These wounds don’t usually bother the Demogorgon. The smell of its blood and the sound of the chains can betray its presence, however, though it has learned to mitigate this.

Demogorgon fun facts!

— Good luck getting it to stand straight

— It alternates between bipedal (two legged) and quadrupedal (four legged) stances. Quadrupedal is more commonly utilized between the two, though it very much depends on the circumstances.

— Though it can eat things other than meat, it never seems to consider doing so (outside a handful of things native the Upside-Down). It’s almost as if it doesn’t realize anything else is edible. . .

Demogorgon Headcanons (General):

— Though capable of a limited degree of telepathy, the beast’s primary methods of communication are body language and vocalizations.

— On the rare occasion where it might incorporate actual words into its telepathic communications, the party on the receiving end will hear a distorted version of their own voice.

— It isn’t beholden to the Mind Flayer (an entity it knows simply as The Storm), and very much acts for itself.

— The Demogorgon is fairly good at digging and somewhat decent at climbing, but it’s a poor swimmer.

— Blood isn’t the only thing it can smell through the dimensional barrier. Other scents tend to seep through as well, though they don’t usually elicit the same level of response.

General Demogorgon Headcanons (Biology):

— Though primarily carnivorous, its diet is by no means restricted to meat. Meat is simply what the creature is best adapted to eating.

— It hunts medium-sized or larger prey roughly once every ten days (or smaller prey more often) and can go several weeks with little to no food if necessary, though this can vary based on other factors.

— Anything unable to be digested will instead be regurgitated.

— Though it has no tongue, taste receptors are present throughout the Demogorgon’s maw with the greatest concentrations located near the bases of the lower “petals” and the entrance to its throat.

— Olfactory receptors are also interspersed inside the beast’s maw. Of note is the smaller, uppermost (dorsal) “petal”, which appears to be specialized for scenting and may possess the equivalent of a Jacobson’s Organ.

— It does, technically, have ears, though they aren’t externally visible.

— It possesses lungs, but can also breathe through its skin. This alternate form of respiration can be regarded as a mostly supplemental or backup system, however, rather than something it’s dependent on, and works best when the skin is either damp or moist.

— The creature can survive in low oxygen conditions with little issue. Should it stay too long in an environment entirely lacking oxygen, on the other hand, it will enter an extremely low metabolic state akin to hibernation and begin anaerobic respiration. It can survive in this state for up to a week.

—It has no genitalia.
