What did Makoto get Junpei for his birthday? Nothing special, in his opinion, but expensive. Since he loved swinging his sword like a baseball bat (which irritated him), he decided to get him an actual baseball bat and even a new cap. "Happy birthday, Junpei." It's said with a tiny smile on his lips as he slides his presents on the table for him. "Bet you thought I forgot, huh?"
He was stunned, a bit surprised to see the brand new bat--HE COULD SEE HIS REFLECTION IN IT!--and the bright blue baseball cap that seemed to smell fresh, as if it was made yesterday! Junpei looked back up at Makoto, then back at the gifts, and then back at Makoto. "I... I mean, I wouldn't care if you did but," he was stunned, unsure of what to say, "this means a lot, Makoto."
Junpei touched the bat again and slowly began to pick it up and held it in his hands. The weight of it made him realize it was a real birthday gift. "Thanks for the gifts, man. I...I can't take this into battle, right?" He grinned, knowing he was playing around, as he knew he owed it to Makoto to at least start learning how to play baseball once the new semester started. "I kid--I kid! I'm going to treasure this for years to come."
