➤ Everyone knows of the tale of Daedalus and Icarus, the father who made wax wings for him and his child to escape their confinement by King Minos. Then his child, who disobeyed his commands, plunged himself to his own death.
But do they know what happened after?
Welp. It’s acutally just bullet points because I was too lazy to write everything out. Aha. I just made it sound all fancy up there.
The story of Icarus:
⤐ Follows the greek mythology of Daedalus and Icarus who got trapped in his own maze by King Minos
⤐ Daedalus was in favor of the gods for helping the Hero Theseus so they decided to save his son
⤐ ***They saved his son and let him live as an angel in the heavens. Icarus had to change his name because as an angel, he could not keep his human name. On a whim he chose the name ‘Pit’ because that was a nickname his father had called him from time to time
⤐ Icarus reborn but cannot fly because that was the catch- he was disobedient of his father back then, so he was not worthy to fly once more
⤐ Knows that this might be a punishment for being human so he wants to prove to the gods that he’s worthy of flight
⤐ Daedalus had wings given to him by the goddess Athena (because she pitied him after the death of his son), and after seeing Icarus unhappy about his lack of flight, he told the gods to give him his power, and so they did. Now Icarus could fly once more
⤐ But after Daedalus’ attempt to kill is nephew Perdix, the gods decided to put the punishment on Icarus (Since they knew that would make Daedalus suffer more)
⤐ They stripped him of his flight and so icarus is determined to please the god to give them back.
⤐ After hearing rumors he heard that the goddess of Skyward is generous and will be able to help him after Daedalus died, he seeks to find her (along with the help of his foster angel parents)
⤐ He doesn't have much to distract him so he starts trying to make angel friends and he does have some but there are obviously those who make fun of him and he gets into fights with them
⤐ Constantly did he get made fun of for being a “fake angel” and that he was reborn because the god’s pitied his human father but not him (this ties in to where dark pit gets annoyed and irritated when he's called a mirror or a puppet and hates being looked down upon. Remember that in this part of the story, Pit still has this darkness in his heart)
⤐ During the time he was in Palutena’s army, he continuously strived to do better than other angels and pushed himself to be better.
⤐ Physically he was one of the most strongest land warriors, but he couldn’t be promoted any higher because he could not fly
⤐ During the war, he wanted to stay in the Underworld was because he saw his dad there and wanted to stay with him but Palutena made him lose his memory (Daedalus was went there when he died because he attempted the act of murder of Perdix )
