It might have been surprising for any onlookers, the fear in Blackwall’s face as Solas approached him with an innocuous deck of cards. He still laughs, lines crinkling around his eyes and his lips curving in a rueful smirk.
“Not again. I may not be the smartest man alive, but I know enough to learn from experience. Poor Flissa nearly jumped out of her skin seeing my hairy arse sprinting across the Courtyard in the middle of the night.”

“I’ve never felt so welcomed as I did during my stay in Ferelden.” He felt more than that. He’d felt purposeful. He’d felt useful, gentle, kind, good. The positives that the Country had brought to him were endless, but this would suffice as an explanation.
The old Warden before him was a man he now looked up too greatly, after all. A traitor to his Country, now dedicating his life to serve the Wardens? It sounded familiar, even if it was a far more legitimate tale than his own.
